    Okay, I get it... well actually I don't. Must be too old for it. ;-) Speaking of getting it, I do enjoy your videos and the fact that you post the locations for picking up the things you use while you're working, except for your orange screwdriver. That would fill the bill for me, if you could provide a link for that, thanks.

    Purple is sweet! If that is battery corrosion, it would be alkaline not an acid. Treating it would require an acid like vinegar or acidic toilet cleaner to naturalize it so it doesn't continue to corrode. I see this on circuit boards quite often. Great work as always!

You could be cruising down the highway at 55 one minute and look down at the needle pointing to 80 the next and not notice. (That's translated to mph for you Americans.) Wish KZread would let me post a picture. Anyway, look up the 1978 Mercury Cougar Coupe with vinyl roof to get the idea.

    I'm just now at the part where you're back from washing after stripping the original paint. I saw you hesitating to put the brush to it. I winced the instant the brush touched the roof. It was for the best though. Ok back to the show... ...And I'm back lol I know I'm way late getting to this one, but I would have voted for changing the wheels out, but putting the old ones in a little Ziploc baggie and marking them as purple custom cougar. I was originally thinking the the acid had ruined the LF wheel, but then when you spun it around, the RF wheel looked the same. I wonder why the red stripes wore off of the fronts but not the rears. Anyway, as usual a great job. I almost wish you had returned it to it's original color, but either way it's still a pretty kitty. That Transporter body is a very nice casting. Too bad about the plating. Patience is what that's going to take. That and a lot of sandpaper lol I'd love to have a real one, but they're way out of any budget I'll ever ba able to afford so I'll have to settle for a diecast instead. I forget the name of company, I think it's AW or something like that, but anyway they make a very nice looking orange and white 23? window HO slot car for around $25 that I've had my eye on for quite a while now. One day maybe I'll talk myself into buying one lol. Every now and then I check eBay for a diecast, but usually they're poor quality brands, way more than I'm willing to pay for a 1:64 car, or it's that stupid looking Hot Wheels one with the extra short wheelbase.

    Have you considered using solder to fill in the pock mark holes in the body, prior to a good sanding and the zinc plating? Either that or a metal body filler that comes out of a tube? I’ve seen Marty of Marty’s Matchbox Makeovers use it on MB castings, but I don’t know if it’d be successful prior to zinc plating...The paint turned out a little dark, but it still is in the purple spectrum. The vinyl roof line in the trunk area doesn’t look original, but it can always be smoothed out to match the vintage painted trunk line...overall, a nice resto. I think original wheels (despite a bit of wear) are always better than reproductions. They show the car’s been loved and played with. Great job as usual...

  • @DiecastResurrection

    @DiecastResurrection

    Id like to have a solid way of filling those little pits. Everyone talks about solder but I don't know if its possible. I'm starting to think that having a dark spot where filler would be is better than a pin hole in the paint job though.

  • @twoblacklabs904

    @twoblacklabs904

    Diecast Resurrection ...not sure if a nice clean micro-dot of solder would create a dark spot if it was sanded smooth and blended in, then zinc plating over the entire surface to build up a new zymac/shiny chrome metal surface in preparation for the Spectraflame... Anyway, great result. The rear edge of the vinyl roof where it meets the trunklid was really my only beef, but it turned out very nice.

    Love your channel! Your commentary is at least half the reason I tune in. I have a question/idea, is there any reason you couldn't use a silver solder as a filler for badly pitted areas? I've never seen anyone who makes these videos do it, so I was just curious.

    Im interested in trying it, I doubt it'll stick though. It would be excellent if it did!

    Leave the wheels... You should try a 50/50 mix mix of your black paint and Rustoleum crinkle paint. That stuff is great fror some antiques typeowriters, AV, and electroicals. I don't do the matchbox... But you might want to test it out some tim... Go Cougs! Nice

    it looks great. i would leave the original rims. they look amazing for being 50 years old. the vinyl top is ok. it is a little dark with that dark paint job.

    Andy's hobby store on KZread raves about tamiyas sticker solvent. He quit using microsol. However I get the feeling Tamiya sponsors him. They send him paints and models. But give him a watch he's a pretty good model builder. He has good tips for painting and weathering if you ever want to do a custom car.
