@MidNight Rules That's fine. Red Line is one of those projects that exists purely to showcase the skill of the animators. It's 'beautiful' in the technical sense and I can get why the aesthetic and scant story would be off putting for some. @Antonio Candido is right though that it's impressive in the sense that, the whole thing feels like its pilot and previews, from start to finish. A lot of better known movies fail to live up to that.

TheFooledGhost the movie took 7 years to make. If it were a series it would be so costly and take so long. Having animation of this fluidity and with this detail is extremely hard to do and not cheap.

The pilot is pretty rad. You can see where they redid and integrated specific sequences from this pilot throughout the movie with different characters from start to finish. Sonoshee using the pistol on the missile versus the crab dude shooting the grappling hooks, JP's fenders getting torn off making his car into the trike before steamlight etc. I really loved this movie. As a 34 year old man who grew up on Toonami and ANIME 97 (from the SCI-FI channel wayy back when), this movie was a treat.

The pilot, golden. The full movie, absolute Diamond, Platinum divine content.

@Ehughesj There's some voice acting in the form of characterization, like they know already the general idea of what they want the characters to sound like and style without dedicating too much time to lines and having a clean act, just short, fast samples they can put in to ilustrate what the final product aims to be.

And they went on with a whole movie like this: a tiny bit of dialogue and buckets of adrenaline across 2 hours.

I think you can buy a few dragon ball series with Redline budget. I heard dbz was like 50k per episode. And the budget of redline was 30kk. So its 600 episodes of dbz, or 3 DBZ.

yes this is just what my ADHD needed

considering how many times I've seen redline as a film and to see this it's amazing how far the animation team managed to go with such a simple premise. This group of crazy racers each which could easily carry an entire anime on their own solely featuring them and their story, for them all to feature in this one film, receive equal development and motivation and still for it to come out as this beautiful balanced piece is a wonder to view. Also won't lie, I much prefer the film design for JP, though Sonoshee's appearance here almost looks more human than the movie. She seems more vibrant and alive. Idk small nitpick, still love the film and I love this

Takeshi Koike is the greatest contemporary animator, imo. His style is UNIQUE. It's like if 80's anime and 90's Hip Hop had a baby while tripping on shrooms. So much sense of speed and just an amazing visual spectacle that we should all consider ourselves lucky to have witnessed in our lifetime. "REDLINE" is my top anime movie of all time, animation-wise.

4:23 This short little bit has to be one of my favourite quick sequences, the amount of cool details is unreal

I may be a huge sucker for great animation, but it's actually pretty rare that I keep a consistent smile and go "Ooooh" several times during only the span of 5 minutes, and this pilot of RedLine completely deserves it.

god i wish we got more lore of this outside of just the movie

I love the SuperBoins twins; they're such a crazy juxtaposition of ultra sexualized cuteness and unflinching aggression. But not overdone as so many others have. A lesser cartoon would milk a joke like that for all it's worth and then some, while Redline brings across ten times more in ten times less the time.

There's really two kinds of people that end up watching Redline: people who had no idea what the hell it was until they stumbled on it, and people who are only there for Trava and Shinkai

@@blazingfuryoffire1 This pilot was super ambitious since it suggests that the team behind it wanted more locations and race tracks to be in the movie. I think them scaling it back a little was a good choice since it kept things focused. And the final product is just as insane

I was sitting in Baltimore when this pilot was first revealed and I was absolutely floored. To think that 9 years later the movie would not only exceed even my expectations then, but vastly surpass anything they had ever animated up to that point in terms of quality… man what a journey.

Noir Angel It all comes across as very chill for the most part. I say for the most part, because well...of the tornado and stuff. And yeeeeeess! The soundtrack!! That really helps the chill aspect set in. The same with Max’s somewhat monotone voice There’s another game that I know that’s very laidback. Aside from Minecraft, which nearly everybody knows about. I’m talking of VA-11 Hall-A! I’ve been wanting to buy it for a while now. Cyberpunk bartending, along with great aesthetics and soundtrack to boot. Just serve drinks, listening to people’s stories

The sheer kinetic energy displayed in every frame of this pilot and the races of the movie is some of the most impressive and powerful animation I’ve ever seen

It's a stock door sound. It existed before Doom and has been used in 1000s of different media.

3:23 6 something years later and I'm barley starting to fall in love with Godwing, Machinehead's vehicle! I still love Psycho Rod and The Classic Captain more, my first two favorite vehicles from this movie)))

@@RealAGuy As much as i dislike SU those two shows are so dramatically different in artstyle tone and target audience that i don't think comparing them makes sense. That being said, more shows like redline would be great.
