A big thing about winx, is that Fairies are also more or less aliens. So a lot of it is meant to aggressively be something out of touch with earth, as earth is literally a backwater world. Another important aspect of note is that green is a color associated with water (often more than blue is) but used less in actual art. Blue is a fire color and again is just rare to see. Stella is specifically the "Sun and Moon" fairy (later retconned to Fairy of the Shinning Sun) so that could help explain things a bit better. Another note about Bloom's dragon fire: its specifically a fire of creation. She inherited the fire from a dragon that created the universe.

So quick things from a Winx Club fan. I thought I'd correct and answer some questions. 1. The girls first forms were designed by fashion designers and Bloom has a blue outfit because it compliments her hair and lets her stand out in animation when she does fire attacks. There is a fan theory based off old merch she was supposed to be an air fairy 2. The girls designs were inspired by y2k fashion trends which often did have stomachs exposed. 3. Stella isn't a sky fairy. She is the fairy of the sun (and moon but that got retconned). Also her pallet is an inverse of Bloom who is her best friend. 4. Aisha was given green instead of blue because she was created for the second season. They tried putting her blue in her Enchantix form but turned it green when Bloom got hers so Aisha would still stand out. The eventually started flipping between blue and green for her main color when Bloom got pink accents in her design. Also she's not specifically a water fairy, she controls fluids. 5. I understand you don't know anything about Aisha so im giving grace. Aisha would never wear a pirate inspired outfit like that or fancy one unless its a special occasion since she's a princess and her parents put a lot of pressure on her to be a proper one. She also has a sporty style and loves to dance. 6. Tecnas wings are like that in her baseform because when she flies they turn into a paraglider.

it's really interesting to hear someone talk about the designs without the filter of nostalgia! I gotta say though I actually do like the fact that they didn't go the obvious route of fire -> red, waves -> blue, I think their color pallets fit their personalities pretty well. if I remember correctly there were actually professional fashion designers that worked with the show to create the girls outfits in a way that vibed with teenage girls of the time (2004). I have a redesign/rewrite series going for them on my channel and have been doing a lottt of research for it 😅 these designs are awesome by the way! I love love flora and musa's and they all look great together! would love to see your take on the trix

Uhhh I am the biggest fan of your winx rewrite... my favorite are the Riven-Musa-Darcy triangle but I love the Musa-Layla/Aisha resolution because Musa deserves it

As a fan of the original 4kids dub, I HHHHHHHATED everything Nick ended up doing with the series, from taking away Techna's beautiful English accent, to whitewashing Flora, and Leala(that what she was called in the 4kids dub). To see this, you made them so wonderful. Hey if you wanna redesign something how about Magical DoReMi. Another magical girl series about witches.

Tecna never had an accent in the original version. Nick tried to stay more faithful to the original version of Winx in some way.

I honestly love what you did with Techna! She’s actually my favorite Winx character. We as a fandom collectively head canon her as autistic. She has a lot of trouble showing her emotions and I thought it was so cool that they added technology, let alone a technology fairy, into a whimsical world of magic and fairies! She’s very unique

As a fan of Winx Club, before it came to Nickelodeon, I like it. The skirt reminds me of her casual, non fairy look. This look makes me think Alfea combined with the Boys' Specialists Academy, and yeah, girls should be able to fight too, not just use magic

As someone who watched Winx as a guilty pleasure as a tomboy, I appreciate these redesign and the explanation behind it as you do design them. Especially Bloom's.

7:16 Stella wasn't the sky fairy, she was the fairy of the sun and moon (which is why she was orange). I very much enjoy all of your redesigns :) they were very pretty

Was huge fan of the 4kids version in high school, really invigorated my love of the magical girl genre.

not even that, season 8 takes all the melanin out of the two of them, so aisha has a skin colour closer to the original flora, and flora is just a more saturated version of everyone else. cannot say for sure what the situation is in world of winx but i wouldnt be surprised if it was the same

I always love seeing Winx Club redesigns, it just fuels my nostalgia for it. I miss the 4kids dub a lot, even if some of the line changes were cringey the cast of voices are my favorite. Especially Liza Jacqueline as Bloom. Can I just say your Tecna redesign is my favorite?? It meshes so nicely with the colors and keeping with the tech look, also none of that bulky cone on her head. I love it so much- 😭💖💖

I just discovered your channel and I love these re-designs! I only watched two or three episodes of Winx Club as a kid, so I don't have a lot of nostalgia to it either. I especially love Stella's new wings and the sunset gradient they have. It's gorgeous! 😍

One thing about Bloom is that she doesn't know she's a princess until halfway through the first season. The blue in her design is more to go against the stereotype that characters with fire powers only wear red, as well as providing a great contrast with her fiery red hair. Stella (my fave) is not a fairy of the sky, she is a fairy of the sun and the moon (her parents were the king of the sun and queen of the moon) but she takes more traits from the sun and stars, that's why her designs They always resemble the sun and stars, which is why her color palette is orange, yellow, and then purple. btw, Stella is like, the rich girl of the group, that makes sense. She is super into fashion, she is the most feminine and the stylist of the group, she loves making clothes and showing them to her friends. What I love most about her is that she is the perfect break from the rich, blonde princess stereotype, and that's why I hate what they did to her in the live action series! THANK YOU FOR CHANGING THE DESIGN OF TECNA!!! I don't hate it, but man, it's weird! your redesign is much better on her. Aisha has relatives who are literally mermaids! Her kingdom/planet is close to the sea and she has several liquid-based spells. The type of magic she uses most, Morfix, is a pink liquid that she can control. In fact, navy blue is her main color. Overall, your designs are very good!

Great redesigns, love them, but I hate how people still think Tecna has a helmet when it’s a hood 😭

6:56 I don’t hate you for not knowing this, but the orange colour for Stella makes sense because she isn’t the fairy of the skies, well kind of is the fairy of the skies, but not in the way you’d expect. She is the fairy of the sun and moon though her powers are mostly sun/light related mostly because she has more of a connection with her father who is side she gets her sun thing from and her mother is the moon side. But like you said, you never watched the show so you didn’t know, and I don’t blame you for it.

These designs look awesome and i love them!!!❤ I would love to see your take on the Trix and Valtor as well. I do really wonder how you would incorporate their respective personalities in their designs.

Welll i think they did a lot of blue for bloom 'cause they didn't want to do the "oh she's a fire fairy let's put her in red and orange." Also Stella is achally Princess/Fairy of the Sun & Moon but they focus in the sun aspect.

I loved Winx Club all the way to season 5. Season 6 is where the show sort of went down hill. If you watch Unicorn Of War, he pretty much explains how Nick basically butchered the show. I remember the artstyle got alot of controversy due to how skinny the girls waist were.

i don't know if anyone said it; but the way you draw Aisha (or Layla if you want to be wrong); you could easily justify her being an Elf character in D&D. Don't ask me which class; I'm not sure which one would fit the best. also; if this girls actually looked like that in the show, I'm convinced more guys would watch the show, and that's the opposite of a problem. but this was an Italian cartoon made in early 2000s. We're asking too much

loving the redesigns! a little confused on what you mean with flora being whitewashed in. the original section of the series, since shes meant to be hispanic? i am willing to do me a learn im just confused since floras skin colour seemed fine(seemed, so i could be very wrong) but yeah the redesigns are banger :D! would love to see you do the trix (icy darcy and stormy) ^^!

@@natureisneat8262 yes, but hiten made a point of only going off of season 1 (as far as i understand and remember), which DOESNT have the whitewashing issue. again i could concur, maybe hiten knows something i dont, or maybe they understood flora to be a specific race when most people in the fandom have understood her as hispanic. who knows, maybe they DID look at designs overall and meant the white washing for WoW and s8, but without making that clear and thinking theyre only working off of season 1 designs, i cant know for sure.

Honestly, I'm not even a mega Winx fan, I only watched 1.5 seasons, but I'm still somewhat nostalgic of them. So Winx redesigns are so fun to me. I like seeing how fans and nonfans reinterpret them. They're just fun to see in different outfits. So I like the different styles and inspos you used for them. Also, I agree that the feminization of Musa is annoying, when they end up dressing her exactly like the other girls. Like, at least they could have maintained some of her punky or edgy aspects if they made her girly, but no, they didn't.

100% on the aggressive femification of tomboy characters. Where Musa always had tomboy energy, Techna always read as andro to me.

Are those instrumental versions of the transformation songs playing in the background? They sound really nice.
