Redemptive Spiritual Gifts: #7 Mercy

Want to discover how you are already reflecting a very important aspect of God’s nature to the world? Want to be able to recognize how He is using the people in your life to reveal different parts of His nature to you?
Understanding the spiritual design behind our individual natural tendencies unlocks us to be fully who God created us to be and stop comparing ourselves to those around us. He did not make a mistake when He knit YOU in your mother’s womb. He delights in ALL of his creation, even that difficult person in your life today. Each one of us has a spiritual blessing or gift that is unlocked and redeemed through our salvation in Christ Jesus.
Join me for a 6 week study of the Redemptive Spiritual Gifts found in Romans 12:6-8. Your eyes will be forever opened to the potential that lies within you and you will hopefully develop an appreciation for the variety of gifts that are blessing your life daily through the people around you!!
This is the 8th video in the study series. Join me as I share about the gift of the Mercy. If you are just jumping in, I recommend going back to the Introduction first and then you can continue so you have a better understanding of what we are talking about.

This video explains me perfectly! And I'm a male. I'm 24 and have always had strong emotional connections to people that i couldn't explain and am just discovering that my emotional connection to the world is my spiritual gift (verified by multiple spiritual gifts tests). At around 11 minutes when you were talking about how we sense what God wants us to do in a different way than anyone else, that was 1000% correct. It's so difficult trying to explain that calling from God to people. But I know it's God's voice. The big drawback about being a Mercy that I discovered in the last few weeks is that the deep connection to the emotional and spiritual side of things also means that I can feel the demonic presence that has been tormenting me even more since I started drawing closer to God. It's a terrifying feeling, but I'm going to push forward and learn how to use my gift to help people despite the enemies attacks

I agree with you. I am a mercy person too. I think it is labelled as an empath in the secular world. I completely agree with you that often the demonic realm becomes more apparent and tries to manifest and frighten you as you operate in this gift. It is Satan's strategy to stamp out our gift. Press on regardless...God will enable and protect you.

I'm so glad you discovered your gift!! I'm sure it has been challenging for you to experience such intense emotions and be sensitive to the spiritual and emotional climate around you. I know of other Mercy's that are very sensitive to the spiritual realm as well. Jesus used scripture to demolish the attacks of the enemy and I would say that is your best defense. One of my favorite verses to say out loud when I sense spiritual warfare is... "Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world." 1 John 4:4 Keep drawing closer to Jesus.."the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one." 2 Thess. 3:3

@@maryharasyn4684 thank you for sharing this info as well! I too have experienced many severe spiritual attacks @Kalamari but when I was open and honest about it to the pastors at my church - four or five of them got together around me and prayed over me - I never had that problem again!

I am a 69 year old male. Introvert Mercy. Never an enabler. There must be consequences for our actions whether positive or negative. It is Amazing how The Lord placed this into our DNA. It is who we are. When I was your age I truly struggled with it. Desire for that ultimate intimate relationship with our Creator. God Bless you and yours! Psalm 143: 10

I have been praying for God to show me my spiritual gifts. This teaching totally blessed me. It's like you knew me and were explaining me to myself. I joined the choir at church and I would get so annoyed with the way I continually couldn't sing in the middle of a song. I would get overwhelmed with crying. I'd find myself apologizing to my fellow choir members because I'd just loose it. This is what caused me to start searching for my spiritual gift. Most people including strangers would talk to me about random and sometimes uncomfortable things they are going through. I remember when our home got broken into, I started praying and crying for the people who did it to be blessed by God's presence so that they don't have to steal. I asked God to show them mercy. Thank you for your teaching. I'm learning that nothing is wrong with me. I'm made in Your image💞

Your video really connected the dots for me in terms of why I am the way I am for the purpose I've been born for Thank You! I've received breakthrough after breakthrough listening to the points you made here. It's a huge relief to know I'm sensitive for a reason after having been told so many times in my life by others I'm "too sensitive" and to now understand that the Download I receive from God is genuine and His way of communicating with me. Thanks a million!!

Hi Mary, I am a mercy, but have only just realized recently. Everything you said here touched me so deeply, I was weeping my way through this video. Especially the part of change was a huge revelation to me. My husband was military and we moved so many times, and each move was harder and harder leading me to shut down and withdraw from the world without really realizing it. This also cause me to withdraw from the Lord without really realizing it as the last move we made 4 years ago was the first time I didn’t want to put myself out there and find a church again. It felt overwhelming to me, but in His ever patient goodness he woke me up a few months ago. Also, every single other aspect was just spot on, and very meaningful to hear. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, this one has blessed me more than you could know and I am going to watch the rest in the series now as well.

Thank you so much for this beautiful message and teaching. The music is wonderful and the perfect backdrop… I feel love emanating from you😊God bless you. Is it possible to have more than one spiritual gift and if so can they be sort of “opposing” or am I a mercy that has misused my gift due to hurt and pain and become a bit bitter🤔

  • @christopherharasyn3806

Thank you for your kind words! We each have one primary gift but we definitely may operate in some of the other gifts. Our goal should be to emulate the good in all the gifts because that's who Christ was when He walked the earth. The more we become like Him through the Holy Spirit the more we will exhibit the good qualities in the other gifts that are not our natural strengths. Bitterness is a carnal trait that any of the gifts can fall into if we allow ourselves to focus on how we have been victims in any given situation and then refuse to forgive and move on. I hope that clarifies. You may very well be a Mercy, we all can struggle with bitterness.

I think I have the gift of mercy, I am not sure about the knowing part, because I dont have a lot of experience with that. Many people, even strangers I barely know come and tell me their issues and I truely wish I had all the knowledge to help but it is hard to understand sometimes and I mostly can just be there for them or pray for them... I still need my own relationship with God and I have been starting that and I just love and trust that he will be there for me. Any other advice how to pursue this gift more? Or is it something that will come naturally, it seems so lol

  • @maryharasyn4684

    @maryharasyn4684

I haven't found a test that is able to accurately narrow it down. I find that it is easiest to consider the carnal side of each gift verses the strengths. We can through the Holy Spirit grow in the strengths of each gift even in things we are not naturally good at but the carnal nature that comes out when we are tired, hungry or just far from God doesn't change. It's our default mode and I find that is an easier way to narrow down which gift you are. Exhorters and Mercies can appear very similar on the surface but their inner thoughts and motivations are very different. For instance Exhorters are very quick processers of both information and emotions and can move on emotionally much quicker than a Mercy would. If you have time to go through the teachings I posted it might help you narrow it down. Hope in your search it becomes crystal clear how God made you and how He desires to use you to reflect Him.

Exhortation is a speaking gift, I believe, and they tend to be those who naturally without effort seem to know exactly what to say to uplift and inspire and motivate others in a loving way… googling GIFTS OF HOLY SPIRIT-exhorters, exhortation-there’s a lot of good information on the internet. It almost like looking at how you are “hardwired”…what comes naturally to you, like you do it with ease like it’s second nature. Mercies have a sort of antenna that cause them to be zeroed in on those in emotional distress and somehow drawn to them, like moths to a flame, in a way that is clearly supernatural-manifested by way of Holy Spirit and wanting to do whatever is necessary to ease their pain and hurt as quickly as possible because they themselves feel it-without considering if it’s a result of sinful behavior.
