"KPOP" is an industry, not a genre. BIBI is not an idol, she's just an artist. I think this is actually most clear when she broke down crying on a livestream because of the stress from nonstop promotion, recording shows and doing live performances after creating an entire album. KPOP Idols are trained for that intense workload and scrutiny. BIBI is literally just a girl that got scoped on soundcloud and signed.

@@Negyuussq no she's literally not. @battleangel4833 was right as she did not/does not train under the kpop industry formula. she just made music on her own and was found and she still makes music the same way. she hAs written "more & more" for twice but she's not an idol herself. she's technically a kr&b artist. not all artists in korea are "kpop idols" that's such a generalization and an ignorant thing to think.

Bibi is amazing live! I got to go to her Seoul concerts and its a whole production with storytelling dancing, and amazing vocals. Been a fan of her since she was on the competition show The Fan. Her sound has only evolved since. I recommend listening to Nabi, Binu, Step?, and Fedexx Girl. She also has written and sang songs for several K dramas.

Love this reaction! I have to say though this is kpop, I know kpop has the word pop in it but it doesn't stand for pop music, its popular music. Under kpop is genres such as hiphop, pop, edm, latin pop and more. kpop is more of a music industry rather than a song genre. But yeah bibi's music revolves around r&b and hiphop.

Kpop = idol industry, for some reason western kpop fans have started calling every korean artist a kpop singer. she doesn’t engage in the typical idol fanservice, the music shows, nor has she trained and debuted in a kpop company. She’s also not held to the same strict standards as idols by koreans bc she’s not one. She’s been freely speaking her mind about certain topics, talks about sex toys, condoms and kissed a female fan in the crowd at a festival. if a female idol did all of that, she would be torn to shreds. she’s just blowing up internationally with kpop fans in the past year bc she attended some award shows, korean artists all get grouped in kpop nowadays and started adding choreo to one of her mvs, obviously her team and/or her knows kpop is profitable rn, so they’ve started catering to them in a way

I don’t think bibi is an kpop idol or is in the industry mostly because she’s under 88rising with other artists like joji, rich brian, etc.

For me, this is not Kpop at all. I'm not saying that based on the genre she does cuz Kpop covers a lot of genres of music but based on how the kpop industry works. There is a reason why Koreans don't associate kpop with Korean music and Khip-hop/rnb/indie etc. I'm not trying to disrespect kpop or anything, don't get me wrong, but BiBi is too involved in her stuff and her image doesn't really suit the kpop system to be put in there. With that being said, I think she is amazing as an artist. I just really love her. BTW, I don't know if you knew that but her sister is under the group TRIPLE S that did Risin', you reacted to them.

There are a few kpop artists that are heavily involved in making their own music too, even producing music their own music which Bibi doesn't do (I know she can and has produced before, but to my knowledge she didn't produce any songs on her Noir album). And the music those kpop artists do aren't usual for the kpop scene either (cursing, talking about sex, mental health, very personal issues, etc). But yeah, those type of kpop artists are few, not the majority. Those type of kpop artists often have it the hardest because they are criticized by both sides and not fully accepted by either side. They're criticized by the kpop side for not fitting the standard kpop image. And looked down upon by the khip-hop/rnb side for working in the kpop industry, they don't really accept those kpop artists even when they write and produce their own music and show incredible artistry. To me, it really doesn't matter what label you're under, or what industry you're working in, or what kind of training you underwent. As long as you make your own authentic music and show artistry, I consider you an actual artist, not merely a performer or regular idol.

@@user-vv7hc7kb5o yup. I don't see how Suga can write, produce and compose Haegeum ENTIRELY by himself, and yet still wouldn't be accepted by khiphop as much as Bibi? Don't make no sense. It's just prejudice. Good thing those kpop artists are defended by khiphop people like Tablo from Epik High and Tiger JK.
