Red Wing Iron Ranger boots are massively popular among boot enthusiasts, and for good reason. They're rugged, American made, and have a classic style that lasts. In this video, I review the Iron Ranger 8083 in Hawthorne Muleskinner leather. It's a gorgeous roughout leather that smells like heaven. But are they worth the price tag and the hype? Watch to find out!

I love my IRs. I have two pairs, Amber Harness and Slate Muleskinner. There is something about those boots that make me smile when I wear them. Interestingly, the heel of my relatively new Muleskinners started to disintegrate when I took them out of town last month (an air bubble in the manufacturing process). Luckily my local RW store sent them away for a heel replacement at no cost

Yes they are worth the hype. They are expensive but not crazy expensive for what you get. They take a short time, a week or two, to break in and get used to but it’s worth it. I have had a pair for 6 months and just got a second pair.

Great review sir! I own the IR’s in Amber harness and black. They are both absolutely spectacular, and my two favorite boots in my 10 pair collection. Just another satisfied customer from Red Wing’s amazing products. I also have the Red Wing Roughnecks. Totally recommend them if you haven’t given them a shot. I made sure to subscribe!

Got a pair of 8111's for Christmas. Just getting them broke in. Break in period is not for the feint of heart and requires patience. Got the custom insoles at red wing and makes a world of difference. Also have a pair of 1907's moc toes.. Red wings are a good investment. 👍

Being a Minnesota native, it was easy getting one. I have the 8111 and have for over half a year. I find the same problem with the insole and got their arch support insoles. It’s my casual boot for when it’s not snowing and it got some scratches and wear in that short time since I own it.

Thanks! I bought the 8119s in size 9 (a whole size down) and they were just a tad small when I had them on all day. They were okay for a couple hours then my left foot would get achy. It was something I didn't notice until I had them for a while.

I bought the black harness 8084 Iron rangers 2 years ago and they were tough to break in, I thought I made a mistake buying them, it took a month of couple of hours of using them and some shoe oil, now they fit, feel great. Now I just bought a pair of Iron rangers' copper 8085 and those feel good, not hard on feet right out the box, wore them for the first time today, I had them on for three hours and no pain. I read that the Mule skins are tougher to break in???

I own a pair of iron rangers in the amber harness leather and I've stopped wearing them ever since I got my Nick's Overlanders a couple of years ago. Nick's, White's, JK, Frank's are a paradigm shifting experience in men's footwear. Plus they're rebuild able with 8 ounce uppers and out of the world arch support. I'm not going to buy another pair of redwings ever again and that's testimony to the extremely superior quality and comfort of PNW boots . Try a pair of Nick's or White's my friend and you'll never go back to anything else.

I only wear boots and I have 3 pairs, Nicks Builder Pro, Thorogood Moc toe, Redwing Iron Rangers 8085. Love them all and rotate through them! Nicks are built the best, Thorogoods are the most comfortable and the Iron Rangers are my lightweight do all boot. Wouldn’t give either up!
