Red Wing Iron Ranger boots are massively popular among boot enthusiasts, and for good reason. They're rugged, American made, and have a classic style that lasts. In this video, I review the Iron Ranger 8083 in Hawthorne Muleskinner leather. It's a gorgeous roughout leather that smells like heaven. But are they worth the price tag and the hype? Watch to find out!

“If all you’ve ever worn are sneakers …” - that is so sad. Truly.

Indeed. 😅
I love my IRs. I have two pairs, Amber Harness and Slate Muleskinner. There is something about those boots that make me smile when I wear them. Interestingly, the heel of my relatively new Muleskinners started to disintegrate when I took them out of town last month (an air bubble in the manufacturing process). Luckily my local RW store sent them away for a heel replacement at no cost

Nice! I really appreciate it when a company stands by their product and takes care of their customers like that.
Yes they are worth the hype. They are expensive but not crazy expensive for what you get. They take a short time, a week or two, to break in and get used to but it’s worth it. I have had a pair for 6 months and just got a second pair.

I agree. They’re so easy to like, pair with tons of outfits, and built like a tank.
Good honest review, these boots now on my radar.

Thanks John!
Great review sir! I own the IR’s in Amber harness and black. They are both absolutely spectacular, and my two favorite boots in my 10 pair collection. Just another satisfied customer from Red Wing’s amazing products. I also have the Red Wing Roughnecks. Totally recommend them if you haven’t given them a shot. I made sure to subscribe!

Thanks so much for that! Those Roughnecks look amazing! I love that Vibram lug sole.
In my opinion, the Redwing is the best-looking boot around😋

They really are great looking, and I can wear them with just about anything.
I put my 1907 foot bed or my Whites Perry foot bed in all my other boots too ! Haah in my beckmans / rangers even my wolverines. Nice video

It just makes sense if you want a little extra cushion. 🙂
Got a pair of 8111's for Christmas. Just getting them broke in. Break in period is not for the feint of heart and requires patience. Got the custom insoles at red wing and makes a world of difference. Also have a pair of 1907's moc toes.. Red wings are a good investment. 👍

Absolutely. I have no regrets on either of my Red Wing boots.
Being a Minnesota native, it was easy getting one. I have the 8111 and have for over half a year. I find the same problem with the insole and got their arch support insoles. It’s my casual boot for when it’s not snowing and it got some scratches and wear in that short time since I own it.

@StrayReviews I agree, they're one of the only roughouts that I like! I usually go for smooth-out full grain leathers
These boots are made for working not for wearing fancy. They do take time to kick in but at the end you get some lovely boots you can trust on.

For sure. I think they get better with age.
Nice review! Curious why you moved on from your 8119s before buying this pair?
@StrayReviews
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I bought the 8119s in size 9 (a whole size down) and they were just a tad small when I had them on all day. They were okay for a couple hours then my left foot would get achy. It was something I didn't notice until I had them for a while.

Good review. I have an 8 year old pair in Amber Harness. They look great and the upper leather is so soft and comfortable. Mine have the old cork sole. I would recommend them whole heartedly.

I bought the black harness 8084 Iron rangers 2 years ago and they were tough to break in, I thought I made a mistake buying them, it took a month of couple of hours of using them and some shoe oil, now they fit, feel great. Now I just bought a pair of Iron rangers' copper 8085 and those feel good, not hard on feet right out the box, wore them for the first time today, I had them on for three hours and no pain. I read that the Mule skins are tougher to break in???

Mine have not been very tough to brake in. I've been really happy with them.
There are so awesome i cannot justify spending the money on Nick's / White's.

I own a pair of iron rangers in the amber harness leather and I've stopped wearing them ever since I got my Nick's Overlanders a couple of years ago. Nick's, White's, JK, Frank's are a paradigm shifting experience in men's footwear. Plus they're rebuild able with 8 ounce uppers and out of the world arch support. I'm not going to buy another pair of redwings ever again and that's testimony to the extremely superior quality and comfort of PNW boots . Try a pair of Nick's or White's my friend and you'll never go back to anything else.

I only wear boots and I have 3 pairs, Nicks Builder Pro, Thorogood Moc toe, Redwing Iron Rangers 8085. Love them all and rotate through them! Nicks are built the best, Thorogoods are the most comfortable and the Iron Rangers are my lightweight do all boot. Wouldn’t give either up! Get the most compliments when I’m wearing the Iron Rangers!

You can’t wear them with a pair of dress slacks. I almost got a pair of IR’s but I decided to get a pair of Grant Stone Ottawa in crimson CXL. It was a few dollars more but well worth it. It’s my beater boots.

I have worn mine with shorts in SE Asia. Not the best look for sure, but I couldn’t care less. I wouldn’t wear them to a black-tie event, but that’s only because they are brown. 😂
Good review but the iron ranger "reviews" has been covered by just about everyone. It's a little saturated at this point.
