Red Wing 8890 Classic Moc Toe Boots Re-Crafted with Vibram 430 Mini Lug Soles & Saphir Conditioning

In todays video we will be working on a classic Red Wing Moc Toe Boot model number 8890.
We will be removing the old Red Wing wedge soles and replacing them with the Vibram Mini Lug Soles and a matching heel.
In between that though we will also do a cleaning on these dirty boots, replace the cork, check for damaged welt and add a midsole.

Great work as always. Love the Vibram 430 soles. I have them on a pair of Mark Alberts and just had a pair of Thursday Captains resoled with the same. I'd say that this customer made a good choice.

You are awesome, about to invest in my first redwing 1907s. Seeing you in the end be able to put a new coloring on the sole for the outside makes me feel hopeful for a 6+month resole. Talk to you in the future.

Those Charcoal “Rough & Tough” Leather has an outer layer that is almost black, which wears away to expose the true color of the dark brown leather.. You can see the true color of the upper leather on the inside of the boot.

I highly, highly recommend Huberd's Shoe Grease. Its a mix of pine tar and beeswax and a few other natural ingredients. It really gives an awesome luster to any leather without any big effect on the color. No mink oil or silicone either which I like because mink oil in known to go gummy or rancid under certain conditions.

I had a pair thoes I had them resole by a $40 big box cobbler 2005 dollars $80 the redwings rate. And there hurt my feet so bad. I took back redwings and there show me how they were twisted. Basically had do choice but to send them to the trash can.

What's the most durable vibram sole overall? I put at least 8 miles a day on all terrain, mud, road, concrete, snow, etc. I need something that will withstand these use for more than 2 months, i at least need something that will hit the one year mark, what do you recommend?

If you are having trouble with wearing out soles like that you may have to compromise on traction and go with the Vibram 1318 Alpha+. It has a good surface area to distribute the pressure

It does with a top stitch. A upgraded channeled stitching holds up way longer and plus the glue helps hold everything together as well
