I think your algae issue dinos, there are a few different kinds and not all disappear at night so it can be hard to diagnose, best thing to do is get an ICP lab test done but I'd defo be changing that floss everytime coz there could be something in it thats causing your torches to die and maybe causing the brown algae

Sorry are tou saying it's the Dino in the floss and need to remove it more often to prevent it in the system. Or that something bad in the floss causing issues? It's floss mechanical filtration like Filter, socks, or mechanical mesh roller. I wash it every time and then sits in reverse osmosis water over night, before it enters my system. Plus running carbon so if anything in the floss after production is being taken out by carbon. I'm changing floss out every 3 days like clock work. Good point about the Dinos will see if the Icp test picks up things like Dinos.

@@reeferexplained8846 physical removal of Dino is always good practice but if it is that then it wouldn’t be caused by reused floss it would be down to the condition of the water but then the condition of the water could be directly related to the reuse of the floss 🤣 a head fuck I know, there’s so much that can affect water quality as you know and trying to fix 1 thing can lead to another issue starting. Personally I would always change out floss rather than reusing if I was having a bit of issue in my tank but an ICP test will tell you exactly what’s going on. I’m sure the reef factory 1 comes back and even gives you guidelines on how to any issue that they find and you can track the progress through their app when it’s been scanned in at the lab

@@melodic_breezy Hi Brian, thanks for advice. To be honest never thought of re-using floss, I always throw it out as so cheap large bah costs about £15 and lasts me 3mnths or more. I've checked my reverse osmosis as zero TDS. Running carbon 24/7 and npox low dosage 0.07 on doser daily and water changes every 10 days. Nitrates 5-10ppm phosphate 0.03ppm everything else is stable started dosing dr timms eco balance as just incase bacteria is not inline. But good points will send for ICP test.

Bro who told you to reuse floss? Sack that man that's the whole beauty of the floss, use it then toss it for sure, its cheaper than chips

Nope, I never re-used floss, I renised it with R-O Water first to get rid of any residue from the manufacturer process
