REDs are too extreme for most filmmakers. I mean, full manual focus, super complex controls, very expensive, and if you’re running a gimbal you literally need a remote and a friend to pull zoom. I’d take an Fx3 or A1 over a red any day personally.

No offence in any means but don’t you think with 16bit colour and 15 stops of dynamic range you could pull a lot more out of this footage? Idk, to me this looked like canon rebel footage. DaVinci resolve is powerful, but so is exposing your images correctly in camera. Watch for those traffic lights!

​@@Kalimforgetthen@Kalim1st That ain't the main problem here, it's the fact that the footage hasn't been exposed correctly in-camera, there's way too much motion blur so they need to bring that shutter angle down, the focus is out on some shots and the colours don't match between shots. You can get some very fantastic looking shots using photo lenses on a cinema camera, but only if you actually know how to use the cinema camera in the first place

If I had a RED camera, I wouldn’t stick around for a second after that guy left. I’d be thinking he’s gonna bring backup to jump my ass.

The end result is not bad like some suggest. If you look at the way he filmed it and made a mini story out of it. Where is doesn’t hit like expected is the color grading and music choice. There is where you expect more with a high end camera to match the pace and storytelling. Keep going ✊🏽

This is what no knowledge of color grading or composition gets you ig

This is why I always find it funny when I see people filming with REDs while the results are mid at best. You can get phenomenal results with these cameras obviously, but if you don’t know how to use it properly, it doesn’t look any better than my A7iii.
