Red Hot Chili Peppers is a rock band renowned for their hits “Californication,” “Otherside,” “Scar Tissue,” “Dani California,” “Can’t Stop,” “Snow (Hey Oh),” and “Dark Necessities.” They worked with artists like George Clinton, Eddie Vedder, and Elton John - amassing billions of global streams and inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
Lyrics:
My friends are so depressed
I feel the question of your loneliness
Confide, 'cause I'll be on your side
You know I will, you know I will
Ex-girlfriend called me up
Alone and desperate on a prison phone
They want to give her seven years
For being sad
I love all of you
Hurt by the cold
So hard and lonely too
When you don't know yourself
My friends are so distressed
And standing on the brink of emptiness
No words I know of to express
This emptiness
I love all of you
Hurt by the cold
So hard and lonely too
When you don't know yourself
Imagine me
Taught by tragedy
Release is peace
I heard a little girl
And what she said was something beautiful
To give your love no matter what
Was what she said
I love all of you
Hurt by the cold
So hard and lonely too
When you don't know yourself

I wasn't aware of his place of birth, Melbourne, Australia, I thought he was born in California, in L.A, or in the suburbs. I agree with you, he's one of the best bass players, and his bass play has been making the sound of the band since the beginning, in 1984. Wellcome to the next Red Hot album, which is gonna be released in a couple of months (I don't know exactly when ???).

It can get better. No matter what it is. RHCP made up part of the soundtrack to my heroin addiction, so hearing some of their songs (this being one of them) bring back some cold, dark memories. I'm clean for nearly 6 years now. But good music = good music, so i still listen to them... even though their music/lyrics evoke some terribly painful memories in me. Now i try to see it as things being so much better than they used to. I changed, but my love for their songs never has. (Just wanted to comment because my experiences/what their music means to me is the opposite of what it is to you) But whatever it is, I hope it gets better for you. Love u man

He have said he's guitar heroes are Daniel Ash (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets), Robert Smith (The Cure) and Jimi Hendrix. I saw them live a few times and saw Flea with Talking Heads, Joy Division and the Banshees t-shirts, he also likes punk rock, and post hardcore (FEAR, Fugazi, Black Flag, X, etc). Chad and John are more into Prog, Jazz, Hard Rock, Funk and Heavy Metal. Chad has been featured on Drumeo, and Modern Drummer magazines talking about John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Rush, Bill Bruford, Funk and R&B drummers. I have some guitar mags with John talking about Frank Zappa, Marc Ribot, D. Boon (Minutemen), Gang Of Four, Captain Beefheart's guitar players, Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Hillage (Gong), Dimebag Darrell, Randy Rhoads, old Metallica, etc. I think Anthony is into all that too.

Dave Navarro brought a whole newer and darker element to the Chili Peppers' music. I still think this is my favorite album by them, but that's a really tough call. They're all great.

I agree, should have been both John and Dave at the same time. My Friends is a very very good song with good groove and feel. Then again I'm not your typical RHCP fan. I don't like the "funky" or weird stuff being a classic rock and blues kind of guy. Higher Ground, Under The Bridge, My Friends, Californication and a very select few others are my favorites of theirs. I like that type of sound and enjoy the Jimi Hendrix tribute feedback driven guitar solos John often does/did live.

Because it was so different because John Frusciante was in rehab. Dave Navarro is a bad ass, but he didn't meld into the rest of the band the same way, and definitely didn't have the same vibe with Anthony. It's an awesome album, because it was made by awesome musicians, but Dave Navarro had to step into a role that came naturally to John Frusciante. It's all explained in the book Scar Tissue

This song is makes me think of the good memories with my brother. He lost himself in heroin & fentanyl addiction . He was my best friend & I feel like I've lost him. I remember listening to RHCP together when we were young, because of that RHCP will always hold a place in my heart

"I heard a little girl, and what she said was something beautiful, to give your love no matter what, is what she said" My fav part of this song I've loved forever. I love the entire song tho. But that Reminds me of my granddaughter Ramona 3 yrs old, she is like and old soul. Cannot believe the things she says. Unreal. She is my fav of 6 grandchildren, hands down.

My friends are so depressed I feel the question of your loneliness Confide 'cause I'll be on your side You know I will, you know I will Ex-girlfriend called me up Alone and desperate on the prison phone They want to give her 7 years For being sad [Chorus:] I love all of you Hurt by the cold So hard and lonely, too When you don't know yourself My friends are so distressed And standing on the brink of emptiness No words I know of to express This emptiness [Chorus] Imagine me Taught by tragedy Release Is peace I heard a little girl And what she said was something beautiful "To give your love no matter what." Is what she said. [Chorus]
