Jeez John comes up with the riff, he doesn't even play it right the first time, and immediately Flea has already created the fucking bassline just like the fucking album. Mind blowing. Those guys were tight as it gets, and something was shining down on them when they were writing this album. Masterpiece.

+p_beats He sure does. There used to be a video series here on KZread where some guy interviewed Flea about how to play certain songs (you can still find it under the name of: Flea teaching how to play Charlie. I think) and in that series he showed his bass collection hanging on the wall and surely in the middle he had the Wal which is referred to as "the Blood Sugar bass". It's also covered with different stickers of faces of people that Flea admires. Quite crazy in my opinion, since the look and wood of the Wal bass is rather beautiful, but hey, it's Flea and I guess he can do whatever he pleases with his instruments.

John used to jam some serious shit man... some really funky but psychedelic shit... from by the way on he started to jam in a bluesy way that to me was kind of predictable. Don get me wrong, his improvised solos have always been great, and his studio solos and the overdubs and riffs he does especially on stadium arcadium are beyond this dimension. Lets see what hes got for us in this third oportunity!

First Try The “classic lineup”, plus John Bingham, fell off after the LP produced with Terry Date in ‘93. It’s got a long-assed title that I don’t feel like typing out here. That’s also when the band fell out with Kendall Jones, and by the end of the decade, Fish himself. They added Rocky George (Suicidal Tendencies) to replace Jones. As far as I can recall, it’s been Angelo, George, Norwood, Walt, and a bunch of other dudes since then. Dowd may have left, too. I quit paying them any mind after Chim Chim’s Badass Revenge in ‘96, I believe. I’d recommend their biopic Everyday Sunshine if you haven’t already seen it. It’ll explain everything far better than I can.

Such a cool thing to watch now, being able to look back almost 30 years and see where this song (and album) essentially launched them to. John and Flea just figuring out what they want to chisel into that groove. I almost get chills thinking about that for some reason.
