I can’t listen to this song’s intro without shedding tears like a baby. I will never forget my friend forcing himself to learn to play it on the guitar. Early 2000’s, Red Hot Chili Peppers, skateboarding. He lived across from me and he would play outside because his parents thought it was too loud… so as a result the whole neighborhood would get a little afternoon show. He was so fucking good. Unfortunately life plays a number on some of us and my friend got caught up with drugs and is now wandering the same neighborhood, this time homeless and out of it. He can vaguely remember me since it’s been years from when we last saw each other. This intro haunts me from when I was a kid. Peace and love

I get the same way with Creeds song “Open Arms”. When I found out i was pregnant with my first child that song was on the radio on the way home. I cried to it because it expressed exactly how I felt about my unborn child.. I miscarried 5 months later. It was so heartbreaking to me. Yes, one of their badass-est songs for RHCP.

This song was my daughter's favorite. She loved the bass and would start kicking in my wife's womb whenever my wife would play this song for her. Sadly, we lost our daughter this weekend to trisomy 13. She was 3 1/2 weeks away from her birth date. We dedicate this song in memory of her.

I remembered one part of this song that goes, "By the way I tried to say I'd be there" and after all this time (it's been like 3 years I didn't listen to them back in the early 2000s I was an infant back then) I just looked up what I thought it was, "By the way I tried to save" and I was gonna listen to every result KZread gave me but here it is the first song that popped up. Funnily enough I was listening to "old" 90s and 2000s music the other night and red hot chili peppers was a band I wanted to check out more.

My dad first introduced me to RHCP with this song and to this day, he still says this is the greatest music video he ever saw.

Watching this music video with my dad in 2002 was the first and last time we bonded as father-daughter, sharing our first and last happy moment together, just the two of us, enjoying this song. Every time I hear this song or watch this music video, I get to relive that moment all over again. It keeps that distant memory alive :')

My favorite part of this song is when he says "Standing in line to see the show tonight and there's a light on, heavy glow." and "Dani the girl is singing songs beneath the marquee, overload." Just the way he says it is great, energetic and makes me feel great. It creates a bunch of different images in my head and I enjoy it. I also love the instrumental synthesizer electronic parts and they are quite interesting and fun to listen to. They are also energetic and sounds great.

This video introduced me to the Chili Peppers. It used to play on TV everyday, and quickly became my favorite music video, and I made my dad buy me their greatest hits album, just for this song.

Their music is incredible.

When I was a kid I never realized the complexity in the bassline. Holy shit Flea is amazing

this was my jam for years when i went off to school in 2004. i would wake up every morning, turn on vh1 and 9 times outta 10 this song would play. if it didn't, the morning just wouldn't feel right. some great ass memories goes with this song.

This is one of the first videoclip I've seen on TV. It was during summer of 2002 and I was like 8 years old. I remember that I immediatly fell in love with this song. I was only a child, but it was one of the first time I felt something like this for a song. It was an important moment for me, 'cause I can remember what I was doing and where I was, and what was the weather outside. I didn't know then, that I was discovering one of my favorite band until now.

this song is absolute class

I heard this song 4000 times and I still love it. This is my absolute favourite. ❤ Also the video is marvellous.

So glad my brother & I got to see the Chili Peppers way back in 2000 with the Foo Fighters as the opening act! Fun concert and not one obnoxious cell phone!!!

it came out in 1998/1999 on the californication album, they toured Big Day Out ,music festival 1999 and i saw them. i was 15 at the time i'm now 32
