Thank you so much Tom for mentioning the Red Hook projects in this video! I grew up there and I was hoping that you would include it in your talk! Can you do a video on Franklin Ave in Crown Heights? Would love to see and hear your take on that neighborhood!

Same! I came to see the old neighborhood and hear about the projects. My grandmother was from here on Dwight Ave and my mom and her sister, Judie and Sonia were raised here in the 60s and 70s. I grew up coming to visit from the Bronx in the 80s till early 90s. Always loved the view of the Statue of Liberty from grandmas window and watching the Macys 4th of July spectacular 🎇🎆🗽⛴⚓️🛳🚢⛵️🛥🌅
We were ALL crying at the end of this video...tears of joy...because Tom is the BEST!
You need merch...t-shirts with "OMG as the Kids say" on them!

Best NYC tour guide in the city for the city. Tom’s busting with information about everywhere in NYC. You get all the KZreadrs together and they still wouldn’t know more than TDNYC... we need to spread the word and get Tom more followers. Live video soon I hope 🤞
Sunset Park next...but be careful, LOL
my fav tour guide. huge fan here from the philippines.🇵🇭😜
your mom should be proud
I like that you're including interviews in your videos again, and it's nice to see one of the less hipster parts of Brooklyn 😊 Ignore the negative comments from viewers. You're doing your thing, and that's just fine! Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Thats my evening just got a lot better, thanks for the video
Red Hook was a very rough area in the 70’s,80’s, and into the 90’s,I grew up in Boreum Hill and used to go to the public pool back then in Red Hook . Changed alot since then , gentrification definitely a big part of that . If you get a chance , go check it out . Big art scene down there.

My brother lived in RH in the 90’s on Delevan street and I would much rather have what it was back then compared to now.

My neighborhood growing up. A whole lot of memories from those very same streets.
You didn’t go get some meatballs, or a piece of furniture, or ride the IKEA Ferry? The IKEA cafeteria has one of my favorite views of Lady Liberty, haha. Thanks, Tom! ❤️🗽

Tom knows his stuff and Phil does too. I will be visiting Red Hook tomorrow with my wife and this video gives me a real hard start on the day. Glad I found out it.
thanks Tom, gracias!
Love your show on Red hook good job 👍
As a person who lives in Red Hook I think you should also get the perspectives of the people that this in the area. What you have shown is the perimeter of red hook. There are many great things on the inside as well. The neighborhood is very gentrified but we have made the best of it. For what you have shown you have done a great job.
I'm from Cork in Ireland Tom ! Can't say your accent impression was very good but the tour as always very enjoyable !

@@golferpro1241 Would you believe I've never heard of Meelin ! I just google it there to find out where it was. It's a similar distance from Meelin to Cork as it would from southern tip of Manhattan to Stamford. From what I have read it's a small village ! So many beautiful villlages like that in Ireland that retain the rural vibe. Unfortunately many are suffering as a lot of the young have migrated to bigger cities to seek employment .
You have some of the best videos on KZread! Thank you so much for what you do.
phil? thx god is back! NY is nicer because of him.
Kudos to you for mentioning the Red Hook Projects
Nathanael Greene settled in Georgia after the Revolution after being awarded Mulberry Grove plantation outside of Savannah in the war. He died in 1786 to sunstroke (the native Rhode Islander was not accustomed to the humidity down here) and is buried in a place of honor at the center of Johnson Square. Greene Square was also named for him. His widow, Kitty, hired a tutor named Eli Whitney to educate her children and while living at Mulberry Grove he invented the cotton gin. When George Washington visited Savannah on 1791 he called upon Kitty Greene who he had always been friendly with. While in town he stayed at the home of another Revolutionary War hero General Lachlan McIntosh on Oglethorpe Street. It’s now a vacation rental, so you can stay in the house Washington stayed in.
I love all your tours but this one was fantastic !!!
Thanks for knowledge n showing us around and good laughs too...thanks for your effort n time...God bless
Another great Tour, thanks for keeping us going during Lockdowns and Pandemics when we can't travel
Love your clips in between the video. Makes it fun to look at. You have Good Humor and very interesting topics. 😇👌
Its true my life is pretty boring. But, the video on Red Hook Brooklyn has got to be one of the best videos I've ever seen. I'm glad I found you!
Tom you're still the best !
That poor snow man ☃️ 😊🤣🤣🤣
U r so great! Totally love your videos. As the weather warms do more, if, u can‼️‼️‼️♥️
Great video!
Getting better and better. Loved the interviews, especially the one with David at the Waterfront Museum. IKEA once was really big in Germany, they still are, but they seem to have lost a bit of their „hipness“ and appeal. Still have to admit that I own some stuff bought there. Also, another nice example of hostile architecture at the end, you „resting“ on that bench. Great video! Cheers!
Neighborhood love, Redbook, Ralphie from Redbook grew up late 60s all of the 70s into the 80s 81,82.

Tom thanks for the informative tour of Redhook and glad Phil is ok and back with you 🗽😍🚶🏻🚶🏻♂️
Fascinating tour with lots of history especially the connection with the Battle of Long Island (a.k.a. the Battle of Brooklyn)! The interviews were particularly fun and informative. We'll have to check out those other ferries next time we get up to NYC.
Nice one Tom! Long time viewer first time commenter. Coming back to the city very soon and Red Hook is def on my list to check out first hand. Great job as always mate
Love you Tommy!❤Gracias siempreEres linda persona muy buena gente✨
Another very interesting video from Tom! Also in that area is the Red Hook circuit where they do Formula E 😀
This is fantastic, love NYC and stayed in Brooklyn last time we visited. often travel back on Queen Mary which leaves from the Red Hook area and Covid willing should be calling in twice for the day later in the year..straight to Sunny's bar and the Key Lime Pie shop!
Tom, maybe in the spring or summer you could revisit Red Hook and interview Dustin Yellin, the artist founder of Pioneer Works. Great cross cultural arts and science venue. Check out their schedule and Dustin's magnificent glass sculpture studio next door. Keep up the good work. Love your tours.
wonderful as always. I learn so much, I tell my friends I would not go to new york without checking if you have a vid about where we plan to go. If we ever plan to go again. I really miss new york.
