Schwarzenegger teams up with Belushi for your standard hero/buddy cop flick with a twist.. Belushi is your snarky bad cop from Chicago, while Schwarzenegger is a tough as nails Russian from Russia! That's about it, other than that the plot's pretty standard to be honest.

I bet you 100 bucks that Arnie’s role was originally given to Dolph Lundgren. The man was the go to Russian for 80’s action movies and he’s Swedish!

It just struck me, why the hell didn't they have Arnold play an East-german rather than a Russian? Still would have been a communist officer and he would have been able to speak in his native language rather than that terrible "Russian".
@cam-a-lot1973

A good idea but Russia wouldn't necessarily make 'East-Germans' international or even regular level cops like that, they'd want to keep it their own people. Plus Russian dedicated to Communism and is serious as opposed to some German possibly being in denial comes off as funnier

Because Rocky 4 was released two years earlier, had a huge Russian focus and made the most out of any Rocky movie so... Arnold is Russian because of capitalism.

But the only problem would be that he forgot how to speak German without American accent. 😂 True btw
Red Heat is a classic. Rush Hour of the 80's.
Victor's tiny gun is a Derringer, Decker, which usually holds only two shots and you're right, the suppressor is crazy.
That guy saying "I robbed a bank" was the coolest thing in the entire movie, hands down

Fun thing about this movie - it comes off as being rather preachy in favor of Soviet Communism and against US Capitalism.
@Etherman7

On the one hand, as a staunch anti-Communist I do find it a little strange that they don't bother to at least have some comebacks to the Soviet propagandized view of American life, it definitely feels like it's leaning that way. On the other, it's kind of refreshing to see Soviet citizens portrayed as human beings instead of just cartoon villains in a production from the 80s. That said, I'm the sort of guy who's willing to admit that good people do good things in bad countries, so I don't have many people that like me politically.

If I remember right the only reason they were actually allowed to film in Russia was because of this.
13:39 You’re right both movies soundtracks were composed by the late James Horner.

So glad i found your channel a couple of weeks ago. Been binge watching your reviews. They are amazing and you are very entertaining!
If you can get passed the terrible use of Russian and the bastardized Austrian-Russian accent of Arnold, this is actually a really badass movie.
The guy he beats at 1:55 must be a real friend of Achnold because he seems to be in almost every film of his.

The word play with the foundry worker stuff is that the KGB (or some shit like that) office in St Petersburg was located on the Liteynyi prospect, which translates as "metal foundry prospect" Now, there's the headquaters of the Federal Security Service of Russia, which is the new name for KGB

decker which revolver manufacturer do you think is better colt or smith and wesson
There are also revolvers that have the whole cylinder sealed that can be fitted with silencers. They are safer since gases cannot escape the sides where a beginner might place his hands.
9:09 Actually, "diplomatic immunity" is carte blanche for doing whatever the fuck you want as long as it doesn't directly endanger anyone. This is how embassy security are allowed to get weapons and munitions through customs when they travel without any beurucratic run arounds. People with diplomatic immunity and their bodyguards (also having diplomatic immunity) are allowed to carry weapons for personal defence, no questions asked. Why do these people get it and not you? Because people that get diplomatic visas are generally trustworthy and "important", that's why.
In The "Shado-World", a month can last as long as Decker wants it to!

Reason Cat was in the hospital was because the previous scene had her get into the car and the driver was the one who dressed up as the nurse that gave the air bubble to the other Russian ("Soviet").
"With nothing to do, spare , admire a gun when you have nothing to shoot at..." or, you know, familiarize himself with a firearm he's possibly never even seen the same model as. Make sure he knows where the safety is ( safeties are?), slide stop, magazine release, check the action and trigger pull. Stuff you may want to do if you may end up relying on your knowledge of the firearm for your life.
Dude, my name is Dorin, I'm from Romania, and you're "no diner, no lube" joke suprised me so much that I almost dropped my drink. You scared me man, I have not laughed so hard since July. "Dorin" is a common name in my country, how many other romanians did you startle with this review?
Interesting. Arnold’s Russian accent sounds a lot like his Austrian one. Also, like in True Lies, the bad guy in this looks like a henchman.
Got the perfect movie for you to review Decker! Split Second with Rutger Hauer.
Please review taxes chainsaw massacre
Weird that Victor smacked apart the Lamp to get the key? How did it not go erradic away lost somehow within the room instead of falling down only?
What's interesting in this movie is that this is possibly the only Hollywood-film during the cold war that didn't portray all aspects of the Sovietunion as "evil". They have drug-dealers and criminals aswell and cops are "cops world over".
"You did not make it Victorrrr"
19:05 That’s not a revolver, that’s a BTJ DA38 which is kind of a “modern” version of a derringer, if you want you can check the IMFDB page for this movie. But still wouldn’t it be more fitting if he had a Nagant revolver since you know he IS Russian?
@sesfilmsllc

20:24 Which makes no sense since that type of pistol is a single shot, but hey that’s Hollywood.
I can't wait for there to be snow on the ground and Decker is still doing these...
@ 12:10 that's the girl from the Steven seagal hard to kill movie right !?!
Hey Decker you should totally do the Phantasm series.
Hey Decker, I was wondering if you would ever consider reviewing more modern horror movies, I know you mainly stick to the classics, but Sinister is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I would really like to see you review it, specifically the soundtrack. Thanks!
Rico was one of the genetically modified children, they children were not made from his genes, his genes were made by the same people that made the other children too. They took samples from the entire Council of Judges and mixed the genes up to make candidates for the academy that they knew possessed the physical and mental attributes needed. They were breed in pairs, with Dredd and Rico being one pair, meaning they are genetically speaking brothers. None of the other children shared their kinship. That's why Rico took over the Janus Project and injected his own DNA, to make all the children genetically his offspring, sharing only his DNA, aside from some physical properties.
@Kartissa
5 жыл бұрын
The whole thing about mixing genes and breeding in pairs isn't mentioned in the movie, so as far as the plot is concerned, it never happened. Rico and Dredd are shown to have the same DNA in Dredd's trial (despite the obvious physical differences). If Dredd is the result of the Janus Project, as stated in the movie, then so is Rico, and the whole switching DNA is indeed pointless.
We missed a great chance to see Peter Boyle sing putting on the Ritz to relieve stress. Then he could get all crazy when it goes wrong.
Lmao at how Decker casually pulled out a revolver to educate us.
I totally disagree abt the Chicken exposition.....I'm from India & I watched this years ago when I was like 8 or 9 & the concept of the "chicken" game was new to me back then as a kid who isn't American(hey Decker!, quit being a selfish prick, not every movie is made only for American audiences).......hmmm...writing this I just realised that Arnold's been in a pretty similar "Chicken" exposition scene in last action hero....I mean yeah it's Belushi here & a kid in LAHero....but they do kinda share a strong character trait, they're both smart Alec potty mouths. I wonder if it's the same director.
But black female ironman is tony's apprentice not tony himself.
Damn, this is the longest summer ever.
Ive never heard of this movie before. Arnold, in 80s Chicago with Jim Belushi, bad Russian accents...COME ON!
I think the reason for the music sound like commando is same music composer? may want to check that
For the first time Arnold and Belushi together in a buddy cop movie. Red Heat.
I like how to prevent issues with actual gangs they made the gang skinheads, but of a different color. Creative.
Great review! May I ask a question? I agree that Rosta shooting Salim was a dumb idea, but what exactly happens when he does the drop with Lupo? As in, what is Rosta's end game? Throughout the movie, it appears that he's going to flood the Soviet Union with drugs, but all I see is Lupo's men taking two cases, one I assume to be the drugs and the other is the cash, and put them on a bus. We next see a bus driving away, which I assume is the bus with the drugs and money, and Viktor is just standing there, empty-handed. I had assumed he was trying to get the money to buy the drugs that he'd then take back to his country to sell. What exactly was his plan? Really scratching my head on this one.
I love your videos I wish I found you and subscribed way sooner
Wait, "shoot each other. The winner go's home with me?" That's exactly what the siren said to Dean and Sam Winchester in supernatural.
That was a beautiful 210 shotgun round revolver 😈
As a child I always found it weird that Arnold never got shot the way he stood toe to toe. I thought he shoot their bullets out of the air too.

I used to actually think Arnold was Russian
2:40 I like how the coke is just loose inside.
Victor didn't want to give them the key, he wanted distract Arnold while he (Viktor) takes the key, also maybe he didn't trust them ,thought they would take the key and kill him, while keeping the money and coke
The word "Druzhba" in "Druzhba" cafe can either mean "Friendship" in more proper Russian or "Shotgun" in a more street-slang type Russian. Russian is a language of sharp edges and very thin lines...

Nice work as always Decker. It sucks that you only have eight seconds on KZread with they're editbots The best lines in this are still: "That will never work here, fucking politicians wouldn't allow it." "Shoot them first!" "What about that sack of shit laying on the ground?" "He lives here." "You did not make it Viktor!" and of course, as you pointed out "Do you know Miranda?" "Never heard of the bitch" BTW.....Congrats on getting engaged...hope you and your fiance are very happy!
