BEAUTIFUL!! I have been a cosmetologist for 20+ years. That being said, when I started out it was cap hilites only. Then came the foiling, which we didn't cover that much at all in school. So I worked so hard on perfecting my foiling technique! My clients looked like their hilites were growing out of their scalps. And now, they want it to look natural, lived in, with a root. 🤦 LOL Moral of the story : CONTINUING EDUCATION AND COLOR CLASSES THAT TEACH THE NEW TRENDS ARE SO IMPORTANT!! And of course, Jamie Dana is awesome and her videos are amazing, as well as her work!!

You are an excellent teacher!!! You explained the entire process so well that even I feel I can try it (I’m not a professional.. all I’ve ever applied was store bought boxed dyes!) This turned out beautifully and is the exact look I’m wanting so that’s why I watched your video. I am a redhead and I have lots of red haired clients as well which I love...I often highlight to a deep gold with lightener and 5 vol to control the lift and other reds for dimension, works well! That was very pretty!

Thank you for such an in-depth video. After seeing how much skill and artistry goes into highlights, it’s clear to be that they are best left to the professionals like you. Please create a video about highlights on natural curls, lighter red hair, and how to work with red hair with some pure white growing in.The sandy washed out look is a common problem for natural redheads. Should we just paint a honey blonde over the whites? Highlight?

Just an FYI for all of us “cheapskates” out here. You can use petroleum jelly on your skin to avoid the staining from the colored dye. I always do this and make sure I get my ears, and back of neck. You dont need the special one she used.

Also, color gets color off the skin so if you do what she just did and massage the hairline with the haircolor already on the hair, it will remove the unwanted color on the skin!
