That Banished Knight is absolutely terrifying

The teleport is just so good

Godfrey fought like the typical muscleman villian. Just bullied him into the dirt and refuses to elaborate. Maliketh is like the archetypal old master. He initially holds back as a test, but when he realises he needs to get serious he will casually put you away after pulling out techniques he hasn't used since the shattering era. Malenia was like the typical protagonist. Has a tense fight in which she seems to be doing poorly, but pulls out a secret power at the end to eke out a victory.

Malenia is more like the deus ex machina of the game, with her getting whatever advantages and abilities necessary from the devs to absolutely ensure she saves the day and the plot. Maliketh is more the "previous protagonist who failed to save the world/ unwittingly ruined the world" and now has to make way for the current protagonist, but will not do so without putting up a fight- a legendary feared badass masquerading as a hobo, it doesn't get anymore protagonist than that.

By this logic Godfrey would be the only one who isn't a 'cheater' since he is just strong and that's enough for him. I refer to Malenia as a protagonist because that's how she's portrayed- a warrior who subordinates herself to a sage (Miquella) because she believes in his just cause. Her Great Rune is originally mentioned to have been 'most sacred of all'. She's the classic fallen hero, who gives in to a sin (pride/wrath) when pushed to desperation. And when you fight her she is close to the peak of her powers. Maliketh on the other hand is not treated as a protagonist by the narrative. It's made clear that he belongs to a bygone age, and even in that age he was seen as Marika's executioner, not a hero. The Ser Barristan Selmy, not Jon Snow or Arthur Dayne. He serves as a mentor to the Tarnished in giving away bestial incantations, and when you fight him after completing his quest, he is saddened at having to put you down. He is far from his former strength but is able to summon a vestige of it to challenge you. A living legend, but a slave to his duty, or his mistress.

Him being unable to have status effects is what made the Malenia fight actually interesting. If he could get rotted it would have been over a lot quicker. It’s also what saved him from Mohg

You should realize in a situation where stagger is no longer an issue, dps becomes king. Name a boss better than Maliketh who is better at that. May be Placidusax, may be not.

He checks all her weaknesses. Malenia's quite weak to frost and prone to getting staggered, she can't rot him, and his teleport can avoid some of her long attack chains.

I already said this in a previous vid, but instead of "no poise break" you should make them (enemies like alecto, banished knight etc) immune to _stagger_ (by simply modifying a parameter in dsmapstudio). The entire video was the poor guy getting bullied into the ground -even if he won some fights.

Honestly, Malenia isn't that difficult, the problem is with her two HP bars, I killed her on the second attempt at the launch of the game, anyone who adopts a more defensive strategy with her will die a lot, you have to be aggressive, you can interrupt her attacks every time you hit her, you can break her stance several times.

Another fantastic video! That banished knight has no business being so cool, esp. when he unsheathes his dual swords. He's more than a match for most bosses but it was hard watching him be staggered and pummeled into the ground. Hope this gets fixed in future vids.

the problem with this argument is her entire character is built with the idea that she can lifesteal. Otherwise she'd be way tankier. The argument of "If they didn't have X ability" is kinda pointless because they do, and they were made that way.
