When I first played RDR2 I spent at least a month on each chapter (except guarma) and it really made the bond of the gang feel so much more alive. I really pity the people who rushed on through.

@@jitteryjet7525i sped through guarma too but i think that made it more fun. i didn't like being stuck with bill, who i didn't care for, and micah, who i hate with an unbelievable passion. it honestly felt right to speed through that section; i can't imagine arthur and the others being willing to linger there. considering how limited the map is i figure it's a chapter designed to be done quickly. i just dislike how long the intro is. i think they should've cut down on the beach wandering just a bit

I legitimately played for a year straight. Just this game pretty much nothing else. I got to the end and i still had sooooo much more to do. I took my time with everything, just taking in the scenery, fishing, hunting... and i still had so much more to do. This game is astonishing. I dont usually go a day without reminding my wife that its the greatest game of all time. Lol

I took my time on it. 6 months or so. I did take over a year on the Witcher (with about a 2 month break included). To each his own but it just seems such a waste to me to not explore every bit of a world that was so well crafted.

I can proudly say that your content is one of, if not THE most special available on this platform. Nice. Enjoy it. It really is a masterpiece storyline... The RDO online part sadly fell off the wagon real fast which was a shame, but the single player story mode was AMAZING... I wish they brought out DLCs for storymode, maybe a RDR3.

I have played countless titles, but the part at 43:34, was the first time a video game made me cry. The second half of the game in general made me feel a bit depressed. All the tension between the gang members felt like watching your family tearing apart and that last mission, and that damn song was all I needed to set the tear free.

Only 7 minutes in this video and it’s already spectacular. Props to you for making this Edit: The second play through on this game left me speechless. For instance, I was way up north exploring and witnessed a bear and wolf duke it out on a frozen lake. I just sat there motionless watching the game play its role.

Rdr2 is my favorite game of all time on which i've spent 1200+ hours on and this is probably the best video i've ever watched, the camera movement, the editing, the story telling and more was just amazing. After watching the video i checked how many subs you have and was suprised how its only 33.4k, when i saw the view count i was even more shocked of how its only 12k views. You deserve so much more man.

I played both games without any spoilers, and oh boi, was it a wild ride. I remember just having dumb fun with the first game, doing stupid stuff just cause I was bored, but when the ending was revealed, I felt bad for all the stupid shit I've done before it, feeling like I should have taken everything more seriously. So once I started playing the 2nd game I knew I wanted to take my time and experience the world fully, without jumping off cliffs every 5 mintues and setting people on fire just for the fun of it. By the time I got to the end of red dead 2 I was crying so much for 3 days, I never knew a game was capable of making me feel that devastated, but I'm so glad it managed to do that

Today at the end of stream Big Sherpa talked about this video. I came here immediately after, had to stop halfway through to do stuff, and just finished watching it. This is a video with so much love out into it. The production value is incredible. I love the establishing shots and the editing with the RDR2 map overlayed at parts. I really enjoyed the history of the production of the franchise. You presented everything so well, and in a very watchable way. Funnily, on Sherpa’s channel there is a membership emoji that is inspired by the phrase, “Easy to code, bro.” A joke on his channel about how people will call things in games, (especially this game), not impressive or easy to code. It’s truly beautiful to see people appreciating RDR2 in such a genuine way. I’m really glad sherpa was able to get you to revisit this game. It’s truly one of the deepest worlds in all of gaming, of not the most deep and intricate and impressive world. I really really enjoyed this video and I will hopefully see a lot more! You’re truly a very impressive creator!!!

I only play Red Dead Redemption 2 like 1 month out of the year for the past 5 years and I still haven’t 100%’ed it. I just get lost every time I play. How people talk/feel about Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim I never felt. I DO feel that way about RDR2 though. Whole heartedly.

I love watching people talk about rdr2. But I think this video is my favorite. It feels like a love letter to the game and was absolutely amazing to watch

I spent around 175 hours on rdr2 when I first played it but I still didn’t play it to its fullest potential. Yes I cried when I should have and I did sob for about two hours before, during, and after the credits but I still wasn’t as connected to the characters as I wish I had been. I’ve finally decided to play the game properly, all of the side missions, gang missions (hunting, robbing, etc.) it may not change how I react to the end but it will change how I look at the world and the characters that were so beautifully built upon. These games are magnificent and I have so much love for the characters and stories. I can not wait to see what beautiful story will be given to us in red dead redemption 3. This game is a masterpiece that anyone can love if they give it the chance.

What the hell your production quality is insane. Maybe the best I've ever stumbled across. I cannot believe you don't have millions of subscribers, you really deserve it. I hope the algorithm is kinder to you soon -- I would love it if more people found your stuff Tangent: the phrasing you used wrt "the world wanting you out" was very impactful to me, and clarified some of the ways in which RDR2 really left a personal imprint. Sometimes it feels like every power in the world wants me and those like me to disappear, wants to wrap me up in a clean little bow and wipe me from history. I'm not gonna roll over and let it happen, but at the very least, I can make sure they miss me, and you know what? I will. Thank you.

I completely agree. I had always taken my time with each play through, but didn’t slow down. Earlier in the year I got into RDR2 online with my brother in law, and was able to dress my character how I always wanted to dress Arthur, learn where specific animals, plants, and herbs are. But I’d say only until maybe a little more over the last two months when I’d be trying to kill the time on bounties I would just hold “A” on my horse or wagon, and go through a one whole day cycle, took my Hud off, would just stroll the entire way to 3-5 towns over, and learn the map, and routes by landmarks. When you’re at a full gallop on horse in Saint Denis you can easily go in and out of the city in 2-3 minutes, but you slow your walk/ gallop down and when in comparison to all the smaller towns, you really get a scale for the size of the city. I had multiple routes memorizes from Saint Denis that would cut through, Rhodes, the heartlands, Roanoke, that would lead to Valentine, Strawberry, black water, Amarillo, taking two in-game day cycles, and when you casually take that stroll coming into Valentine from Cumberland Forest, as oppose from the heartlands you truly get to appreciate the immersion, and sense of realism they were going for. You gotta remember that was a time when people went out, and said “I’ll be back in a week”, have to pitch a tent, hunt, make a fire, sleep in a tent, wake up, eat, pick up, get going for a few more days, worry about your horse giving out, your wagon breaking down, have your stage coach/ Wells Fargo being robbed, potential of being killed and your family never knowing about where you are, etc. So if you can put yourself in the shoes of someone in the situation? Coming around that Bend after making your way through the heartlands, pass the the oil fields, along the tracks, up and around the Cumberland forest, and seeing lights, and multiple buildings, noise, civilization in between the wilderness you get that relief sort of like “Ahh finally here. Let’s go to the store and reup, get a haircut, take a shower, go to the bar, play cards, interact with npc’s, look for collectibles, rent a room, especially if you try to avoid sprinting. This game wants you to take your time because you’re essentially living out the last few months as Arthur which is why the games is always giving the reinforcements with all the animations that go into getting off/on your horse, hitching your horse, taking a drinking, skinning an animal, picking up an item, weight system, horse condition, picking an herb, eating a herb, etc. it constantly slows things down in a mundane way. Where as in assassin’s creed is just a button tap.

Not what I expected at all from this video, I expected only love for the living world of Red Dead 2 but this is brilliant. Your editing is beautiful and as much as I love hearing about the history of games anyway, you've managed to tell it with alot of heart and that's a hard task to handle when biographing. You should be very proud! I adore RDR2, I feel like I lived in that world for so long and grew so attached to Arthur, It was hard to get on board with John as I hadn't played the first game. I struggled to get into RDR1 having played that first, I definetly have more motivation to try again.

I fired up red dead redemption 2 for the 1st time in a few years, I hadn’t exactly rushed through my 1st play through but by the time i got to playing with John well it just didnt feel right, I’ve started a a new play through, taking my time, exploring every detail just as you speak of. Im about 100 hours in and im still in chapter 2, anytime i finish a mission or side mission i go and spend a day in camp, do chores and sit around listening to the gang talking to eachother, so much dialogue id missed, finer details, like Hosea having a cough and keeping Lenny awake at night. The world is the most immersive I’ve ever experienced in gaming. I grew up on TV shows like the Lone Ranger, champion the wonder horse, bonanza and the Wild West was always somewhere my imagination would wonder off to as a kid. This game takes me back to my imagination, allows me to be a gun slinger, bounty hunter, fisherman, hunter the gambler! This game really is like nothing else I’ve ever played and believe me I’ve been gaming since the days of two sticks and a square ball got hit back and forth across the screen and it was crazy addictive, Rockstar gave me the ability to play out my childhood imagination and that’s priceless as a 50 year old man. I now know i was born in the wrong era! Great break down by the way, had to sub and will take a look at other vids thanks for sharing your experience!
