actually quite a lot of the stuff in red dead redemption that was cut has been used in red dead redemption 2, there is a side mision where you help a giant find a dwarf.

Some of the original HUD concepts for Red Dead Redemption look hugely dated. The final design is far superior and has definitely helped make the game stand the test of time.

Does anyone else just love this guy's voice? He has such lovely cadence and rhythm. If he hasn't already, he should try and get into radio or other voiceover work.

He reminds me of Mr. Brotch (the classroom teacher) from Fallout 3. He has the same exact voice. The voice is so similar, in fact, that I've been wondering if the narrator for these videos and that Fallout 3 voice actor are the same person. If you don't know what I mean, just look up Mr. Brotch (Fallout 3) on KZread. Listen to the voice. It's exactly the same.

I've been looking for this video because it shows what inspired the entire Red Dead franchise! The wild bunch seems like Red dead 2, a bunch of Criminals fighting to survive and robbering people to live.. Meanwhile Red dead 1 seems something like the Dollars trilogy

The fourth encounter from the Dwarf and the Giant really reminds me of the novel Of Mice and Men. I think that may be what inspired the side quest.

They weren't talking about any mission specifically, it was just an end note. But I suppose there is still some irony in them stating that right after discussing a concept that got reused.

Damn, you guys set up the PERFECT intro for Angel Studios to lead into the fact that their Angel Game Engine was not only used for Midtown Madness, Smugglers Run, and Midnight Club -- but that very same engine is actually the grandfather to what we know today as the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (I like to think it stands for Rockstar/Angel Game Engine). Nobody ever mentions it! And now I'm sad it's not in this amazing video :(

Once again, amazing video, guys. I live for this BETA stuff. I wish I could recall most of the differences when I played the BETA yeeeears ago. One thing I can say for sure is I recorded some extra dialogue for RDR that never made it into the final as far as I know. Lots of extra dialogue for the mission "On Shaky's Ground" as well as some horse race countdown + trash talk I don't think was ever used, but is accessible via game hack. Neat stuff to look back on for sure.

This game is proof of rockstar doing their best to stretch the game and the consoles at that time to the limits, rockstar is wayyy ahead of its time.

It's funny that they actually ended up doing a version of the "Dwarf and the Giant" mission in RDR2! Not a spoiler, though, because it's not the same.

I loved the beta inventory color scheme and style honestly. Looks awesome.

It's crazy to see the origin of this game franchise and how far it's come, this was an awesome video

The way the terrain features stretch out for a long ways pretty much explains to me why Mexico was modeled with the old features, but nothing else in the new game - I don't think we're goin' to Mexico anytime soon, boys. :/

That giant mission really reminded me of the ending to the book “of mice and men”

The two strangers missions made it into Red Dead Redemption 2 or at least inspired two stranger missions. “Brothers and Sisters, One and All” where you return a stolen Crucifix to Sister Calderon(later Mother Superior) and “The Smell of the Grease Paint” where you meet a traveling circus with a giant who’s best friend is a dwarf magician that escaped.

So much attention to detail, this is by far the most in-depth look at the previous RDR titles. Excellent job!

@24:05 you guys mention that the final version of that mission you can't shoot the gang members from the balcony in the final version. That is the way I did it on my last playthrough.

Who else explored the mountains on the sides of the map in multiplayer?

9:29 I always assumed it was inspired by the poster of "The Outlaw Josey Wales" lol. But in my opinion, that just makes it even better

You forgot to mention about hip-fire being in the gameplay trailers and not in the final version. For example at 18:53, look how John has his gun at his waist but the reticle is still on screen. Whereas in the final version the reticle only appears when you are aiming down the site, which is the only point at which you can shoot your gun. Going by the RDR2 trailers though, they seem to be properly including hip-fire this time around. We shall see though!!

Yeah but you still can only aim when looking down the sights. It only (automatically) shoots from the waist once you've picked your shots. As opposed to the gameplay trailers which showed Marston aiming from the hip even outside of dead-eye.

Looks like Rockstar may have taken the cut storyline involving the Dwarf and the Giant and used it in RDR2. Its not the exact same story, but the fact one stranger mission involves both a dwarf, and a giant that act as circus freaks cannot be a coincidence.

That dwarf and giant encounter looked like fun lol. RDR2 will sure be something else, I can’t wait!

They will probably do it a little before GTA VI comes out so they can analyze everything they can, like recently a lot of info for dlcs got leaked so they probably want all the information before they make it.

Oh, god, I love these beta and removed content vids! This kind of thing is one of my favorite things to research online. What I love the most is this same thing but for games from my childhood, but I always love learning about the history of any of my favorite games! Lost media is right up there, hence why I watch Blameitonjorge constantly.

The dialogue in "the dwarf and the giant" is crazy, can't believe that got cut.

Its a fact Rockstar Games show for the world how made a true masterpieces! In all generations rockstar leave their footprint!

Frankly RDR always felt like a newer better version of Activision's Gun from 2005 in terms of Gameplay(not the story).

this giant at the end of this video sounds like this Aquila guy whose hand gets shot by John in the first Nigel West Dickens mission 😆 this is such huge dedication. I LOVED what I watch. Thank you!

The one stranger mission about the dwarf is similar to one that was put in RDR 2. In RDR 2 the dwarf is a magician and the giant has Pinhead Syndrome. You can find the Stranger mission in Van Horn in the saloon.

Yep, been a fan of the Red Dead series since Day 1.

The WANTED meter reminds me of rdr2's Wanted meter. You commit a crime,the crime is shown beneath the word wanted and when they find you,then it displays the bounty

Please guys release on this upcoming days a video showing what's beyond the map, specially up north Blackwater or at the other side of the flat iron lake!
