Arthur was literally one foot in the grave yet he managed to do a train heist, fight for the indians in a massive battle, practically solo the people in van horn then later took on a massive horde of lawmen, lived and managed to beat micah in a fist fight and literally would have won if not for Dutch. Arthur was an absolute monster

This soundtrack is fucking epic. That final scene really felt like a he was finally exploding with rage knowing he was going to die. His whole life leading him to one final moment of redemption. This song captures all of that.

This is the only song from the soundtrack to make me legitimately cry. It conveys Arthur's sadness and redemption flawlessly; this is the climax of the game and the music could not have been done more perfectly.

V No, actually you have it backwards. This is the song that plays after Arthur gives John his hat and satchel, to which John says “You’re my brother.” The song that plays when the two are escaping from Beaver Hollow is a bit different and leads into this one.

FINALLY! I’ve been searching KZread for months for this song! No longer do I have to replay the final mission of Arthur’s story just to hear this. There is no better song that could be given to Arthur in his final fight. His lungs on fire, his guns loaded, his will strong, Arthur makes his last stand. All for his surrogate brother and family.

That's the moment Arthur knew that his redemption would be using what remained of him to make sure the one he always saved could have one more chance.

0:25 is pure gold

This is the moment I realized this would be the final moments of life Arthur had and that really just pissed me off so much. Music sells it so much. I didn’t play the first game so I had no clue about the epilogue. I cannot describe the amount of gamer blood I had knowing this was the end.

This scene was so EPIC! I need them to make this into a movie and recreate this scene with some epic lines coming from Arthur as he is shooting down the mountain

0:00 A perfect opening after seeing Arthur send John on his way after giving him his satchel and hat, only for afterwards to let as much hell loose as he can on the Pinkertons. Showing how much pain he’s been through throughout the events of the game 0:29 Shows perfectly how this might Arthur’s final fight and how if he’s dying, he’s dying with a fight 0:51 Pretty much signifies if players don’t know that Arthur dies here. Wether it’s from TB or Micah, or the Pinkertons 1:12 The Pinkertons are gaining ground yet Arthur still holds strong. However Micah is working his way up for the true final showdown 1:55 John has made his way out of the line of fire and is safe. While Micah and Arthur are in their fight now. The Pinkertons hold off knowing Micah is valuable to them for intel once they have the chance to go for the rest of the gang. 2:43 The guitar and percussion dies down as the gunfire dies down around Arthur and Micah still locked in their hand to hand combat. John getting further and further away from the firefight listing to Arthur’s words on “never look back.” (Which wouldn’t happen later) 2:53 The gunfire has resided, Dutch realizes Micah has left them and makes his way up the mountain knowing he went there after Arthur. He orders the gang to split up and get to safety if possible and heads to find Micah 3:30 It begins to look like a losing battle for Arthur yet he keeps fighting. Knowing what could happen if he lets Micah win. Knowing Dutch was on the way, he had to live until he made it there himself The song ends when Arthur is knocked to the ground and starts crawling for the revolver. Dutch makes it to them and the ending plays out depending on the players honor Yes I was bored so I made a story for this song

just imagin your on a mountain and you hold a small army all by yourself thene there a guy that jumps on you and starts punching you then you both fall thene you fight him thene you see a hope for beating that men then the guy that has been like father to you betrays you and you die whatching a sun set and you know you saved everyone that you loved

One of the most underrated pieces from this whole soundtrack. Fucking epic and tragic at the same time.

No other game in existence will quite make you feel the same way as this sequence.

I legit got goosebumps when the music started and the Cover John's Escape mission objective popped up while music at 1:35 was blasting i managed to catch Micah running at me i turned around and blasted him with my explosive rounds to no avail

This version is infinitely better than the one they released, what’s up rockstar? Also they really need to release all of the other amazing songs on this score

Only walking dead tale tell made me cry until years later I played this game. Beautifully written game and arthur was incredible

I remember my first ever play through, I was already in tears because my Cressida just died (my horse) I knew I wanted to help John, as this song started playing I cried more, I knew this would be arthur's final fight and I made sure he when out with a bang

God this track is SO underrated. All people seemed to focus on were the lyrical songs in rdr2 but imo 'That's the Way it is' and 'May I?' felt forced and out of place compared to the excellent use of lyrics in the first game. 'See the Fire in your Eyes' was pretty good I will admit, but I think the real beauty of rdr2's music I think lies in the battle themes. "The Disaster" "The Fine Joys of Tobacco" "American Venom"(especially as a remix) and this are all expert pieces of music. I will never forget standing on the top of that mountain as Arthur, nothing but my cattleman revolver in hand, taking pot shots at approaching enemies, because nothing mattered except that he could give his life for something good. His chest is collapsing inwards, each breath is an effort, but he was blocking the way between John and an army of Pinkertons, and that knowledge was enough to keep him standing strong. Then, as 0:27 hit I could feel in my chest that THIS was Arthur's Red Dead Redemption. To me, that's way better than a ride through a forest with an instagram filter over it

Sad how we dont hear much of it in the actual game

In the end after giving John his hat, i stand on the highest rock and shoot what i saw on my sight till the end. It was so epic.

arthur has one of the best redeption in gaming if not the best

people who haven’t played this game will never understand. all the time we had gotten to know and love arthur. all the friends in the gang that had been lost along the way. all the insane stuff that we had witnessed to get to this point. the deep sense of betrayal after dutch turns on us after a whole game of being brothers. the pain of losing our trusty horse the desperation to keep arthur alive. what a story ❤️
