I meant, theoretically, if Arthur woke up after the Lenny mission (where they get drunk), he would have known not to visit Thomas Downes. He would never have gotten infected, could have worked against Micah and a thousand other things. Its a nice thought, but of course it wouldn't fit the story and mood at all.

Am I the only one who longs to be able to play a game like this again? I try to come to terms with the fact that no other game compares to RDR2. This was an absolute masterpiece.

I never really understood why so many people loved this game so much. To me the plot was visible from a way away, a theme that annoyed me was that the gang keeps making mistakes and talking about them then running in and doing the same exact thing all over again. Arthur was a great character but didn't seem to be this greatest character of all time to me. I know it's hard but could you explain why its so perfect?

The true, best ending is where you help John with high honour and die peacefully on the mountain. Arthur was meant to be honorable.

Charles, Sadie, etc didn't die but were busy not being scumbags. Arthur didn't want them there to avoid anyone getting killed. John wasn't supposed to be there either, which meant Arthur had to change plans to save him instead of going after Micah and Dutch suicide style.

I’ve been gaming since the early eighties, and this game is the most detailed, most immersive and most emotional game I’ve ever played in my life. The voice acting and animation is crazy good. The game looks beautiful too, especially the weather effects and the lighting. Gorgeous.

I started gaming as a teen in the mid-90s and this is what I always wanted games to be like. About the only thing I could wish for that it doesn't have is individual personalities/learning from experience for companion animals (which I expect to come along in future games, it's just a matter of processing power and coding) and the ability to pet cats.

I can believe Micah, Dutch, and Bill betraying him, but I really don't understand how everyone else did. Dutch was too stupid and arrogant by the end where I knew that was going to happen, the entire storyline events were sabotaged by micah's help with planning things out, and it always seemed like whenever he was involved or knew about something it went south. I knew he was going to be a main problem once i found myself slaughtering half a town because of him. Bill was always acting completely arrogant, selfish, and out of pure greed and didn't care if anyone got in the way. The way they act in rdr1 makes so much sense playing this game now, and John's descriptions of all of them are spot on in character

I find it amazing how Arthur could hold his own against Micah whilst having TB imagine how he would have destroyed him without it I wanted to make a lil edit here: Arthur could have coughed in Micah’s mouth, he had plenty of chances too, but he only coughed when he knew no one would be infected, because at that point in the game he changed as a person and didn’t want to do that to someone else, also my ADHD hyper attention has worn off 🤯

Just finished it for a 2nd time and still hurts, as soon as he started telling Abigail Sadie and Jack goodbye I started crying cos I knew what was coming 🤧 One of my favourite games of all time!!! A true masterpiece, just like The Last Of Us, this needs to be made into a series! But ONLY if the cast is absolutely perfect, no changes needed, just so more people can witness the great storyline

My guess is that instead of making a plan that benefited everyone, Dutch and Micahs plan was either to off everyone or drop them to hide and live in wealth. Which wasn’t Dutches original plan but that was his last resort to have his “henchman” (Micah) to live with him

My first run thru I got a good ending. Mica didn’t kill Arthur. I helped John escape and didn’t care for the money. Dutch walked away and so did Micah. Arthur crawled and sat up and died looking at the sunset. It was sad but compared to the ones I’ve seen. I was content

I was just below high honour bc i was bad at the syart but when i knew he got TB i started doing better and fixing up his life. I didnt care for the money but i still got the black wolf. In the end i still know that my arthur was a good guy, fighting until his last breath, not fearing death or begging for mercy. A true selfless warrior and helped john instead of money

If you had a dry eye your first play through, you have to have no heart! The best game I have ever played. Story wise and graphics combined to make something truly amazing.

I never cried. Whenever someone of the gang died, I was just feeling anger and bloodlust against the person or group who killed them. If I got the death at the sunrise, I would maybe cry, as I wouldn't have anyone to hate. But I got shot in the head by Micah. I still am pissed off at that son of a wench. I am making sure to play honorably this time.

Ok I hate to spoil, not that it already has by someone else but... (press read more for spoil) Red dead redemption 1 is set about 15 years after rdr2 is set, therefore the rest of, or most of, the gang members left in rdr2 are alive. Dutch in rdr1, I assume, goes completely insane or gets something wrong with him like depression and jumps off a cliff killing himself.

Dutch showing up and shooting micah just expands his character so much more in the last final bit. He knew he shoulda done that a long time ago, before he went insane.

The best story game I've played in my life. It deserves an Oscar.

Best game I ever played. I beat this game for the first time last night and I was finding myself tearing up at work today a couple of time thinking about the game. The action, adventure, friends that I made, people I’d saved and people who saved me, how flawed the characters were but they were trying to survive and be better people. I really tried to be a good person in this game and I made decisions based off of what I think I’d actually do in real life. I became like Arthur in my mind and how people treated Arthur in the game felt like a true of my own personality in real life. I have never felt like that playing a video game. Never. Maybe I’m just being too dramatic but I really love this game. I love it like it’s a valuable family heirloom. If I have kids, im going to tell them about it. Hopefully they’ll play it too and appreciate it as much as I do. I hope the people responsible for this game never lose that spark that inspired the creativity required for this work of art and I hope they make another and another. God bless, brothers and sisters. This is a great time to be alive.

Dutch is one of the most tragic characters I've seen, I think he was truly a good guy who got his mind scrambled by the events he's been through and Micah ofcourse.

No, I think it was Hosea keeping him in check that kept him "good" at first. Dutch was always a horrible person, it was just the loss of his best friend, the increased stress from the Pinkertons, and the paranoia of there being a rat in the gang that revealed who he truly was.

No dutch became weak after hosea did and he realized that he might not be the planner and visionary that he thought he was. He then retreatet into himself letting micah do all the planning. Low honor is allot more depressing

Highest honor is probably the best way to have arthur die... he told hosea, when his time comes he'd like to die facing the rising sun.. I believe this ties up nicely with Arthur's character, he tries to be the best man he can be before his impending death while being loyal to the gang.

The fun thing about tuberculosis is that you can die of it and still not be infectious to others. Arthur's TB has progressed fast and he had several episodes of coughing up blood. This means that that his lungs could have still been in a decent shape, unlike his lungs' blood vessels. It's shown that he's pale (anemic) and can't eat (because this triggers his cough reflex).

Fun fact: when Javier points his gun up instead of at John and Arthur, that was actually requested by the voice actor for Javier. The voice actor didn’t think Javier would side with Dutch so that’s why.

This is the first game in my entire life that made me both attached to a character and cry!! The last ride to the camp and the "Thank You" to the horse opened the floodgates. I was lucky to have ended the game where he dies peacefully in the mountains as the Sun comes up. Arthur Morgan deserved it!! First thing I did as the Epilogue started was visit his grave and pay my respect!!

The little saying "we aren't criminals were outlaws" just stuck I love that little part

I have never been so attached to a character that I cried when he died

I love how it kinda goes full circle from the first mission: now as John, you must brave the snowy mountains much like Arthur did for him. As John goes up the mountain, the music and cues from the first game come on, evolving him into the John we all know and love.

I’ve never been one to cry over video games, but this one, this game right here had me crying over my computer. Never while I was downloading it did I think I’d become so emotionally attached to video game characters. Good job Rockstar, definitely the best game I’ve played in a while!

how on earth can a game make us connect with each character so well emotionally, one of the bests.

The only time micah seemed human was in chapter 1 when he said “Morgan I think there’s a dead body right here”

How do you get the different endings

'That's the way it is' gets me every time. I play a bunch of songs on my record player when handing out candy on Halloween. Mostly Horror movie, and Horror game music, but that's always the last song of the night.

The only reget I made was taking White Arabian from Lake Isabella. When she died, I really felt like lost a close friend and cried. When the death came to Arthur and watching sun set with him. I felt really at ease. Farewell, Morgan. You became a part of my heart from now on.

I just finished this game for the 6th time! 10 out of 10! A masterpiece! I really liked how John had his happy ending with Abigail, their home, barn and family just like the first RDR but without him being killed! I hope there will be a next chapter in South America with Mrs. Sadie Adler as the main character! that would be awesome! Sadie was and will be the best female character ever that Rockstar games made!

2024 33 years old and the song still makes me cry

By the time I started, I was dissapointed that I didn't get to play as John. By epilogue I was annoyed to be playing as john. Rockstar's character development in this game was genius

I still like John more, but maybe because I grew up playing him. Playing someone else in this game and having John as an AI felt like an out of body experience. Never got used to that.

I think I made the perfect ending. For the whole game I saw the wolf, I never saw the stag once, my honor was very low, I tried to play as an outlaw would. When Arthur gets diagnosed, I was still seeing the wolf, but I thought about how Arthur wanted to be a better man; not a good man, but a good man amongst bad men. I started playing as a good Arthur, never took rewards from people and I always tried to help any strangers I found. In the end, I chose to help John escape; after I fought Micah, both he and Dutch left Arthur to die in the mountain, and I finally saw the stag after the sun set on a redeemed Arthur. I had never cried at the end of a game before this. It felt so perfect.

My playthrough was exactly the same

This is by far the best game , ever. It had everything, the emotions at the end of the game is something else . Your horse dying , Arthur saying goodbye, and then arther himself dying . The story , the characters, the graphics, its seamless. Its a must .

I can not possibly imagine what's going on in Arthur's head while he makes that last solitary horseback ride. That scene rocks so hard.

I got a good ending but Micah didn’t kill me? Anyone else get the one where Arthur crawls to the top, watches the sunset and then peacefully dies?

When he rides to that cave and that music hits and you hear all the voices holy fu, its so sad, impossible to hold your tears back to that.

@@Max-fu3hp absolutely. But it services the story. John ran and ran, but he eventually couldn't outrun his past and settle down at the same time. Arthur stopped running when he realised he was dying and could save others instead of just dying.

I was shocked when micah goes "i got the all the money from blackwater" and then the part where dutch pops out of the cabin

When the music started playing I cryed a little

one of the few games that made me cry.... after doing a playthrough recently i started thinking about how they set up rdr3 to be based on either the gang arthur hunts down for the jim boy callaway book or to be based on the events that lead to arthur's dad dying then swapping to arthur and the gang leading up to "the blackwater heist" we hear about for the entire beginning of rdr2

I'm emotionally attached to this game, the story line and everything. We all who played this game and we lived as Aurther Morgan, we played that role. We're Red Dead Redemption

From the moment Arthur started coughing up blood I knew how it was going to end and when I got to the horse riding part with the music it hit me hard
