I play soccer and that was accidental shouldn’t have gone straight to a red if anything a yellow, she went to get the ball and accidentally kicked her legs then went to run and accidentally stepped on her shouldn’t have been a red

Stomping on a player is a red although if deemed incidental, there can be a case made for a yellow. In my opinion, it endangered the safety of an opponent, so good call.

Brilliant call by the ref - 100% correct. You hear the bane of all referees that officiate at junior level - "My girl?" No parent can ever see any wrong by their own kids on a football pitch. They'll see every tiny thing that is done against their kid, but will never even notice horrific things that their kids do. "My kid would never do that....."

Excellent spot by the ref, especially because the player who was stamped on barely reacted, she just got up and went to get on with the game. Top flight pros would have been rolling around for about 10 minutes after that holding a completely different body part 😒

@@a.man38 Thanks. But with speed 0.25 you can see clearly that both players ( who are not very good ) kicked at the same time. The innocent player was partially blocked and also stumbled and tried to recover. So unintentionally she was indeed not very kind to the other one. But red cart ??

She got a red card for stomping the player that was on the floor. It was with intent on causing serious injury to the other player with cleats. Good call ref.

I’ve refereed at lower level for years and this is the type of call that I would usually ignore just to give myself an easy game. So well done to the referee for being brave and making the right call, can tell he has experience behind him to make confident calls like this

Everyone in here saying it's a clear stamp but to me it looks like she was trying to step/jump over the girl who tackled and on the way over, her foot clipped the leg of the girl which made her foot land sooner and quicker so she didn't trip and fall. It's honestly hard to tell from so far away. If there was obvious aggression prior to this, it might have made the decision for the ref. edit: I've slowed it down and can see that white's right foot is tangled/clipped as she was going to step/hop over. You can see the defender's foot move from the contact if you go frame by frame. That would explain the reflex to stabilize that looks like a stamp. Also, if she had landed on the defender with all her weight, the defender wouldn't have such a mild reaction. That shit REALLY hurts because of the studs

KZread needs to get their act together. This came up for my review 12 years after the incident took place. How can I pass a verdict after the game is done and everyone's already moved on?!🤔

In this case, only the referee knew what kind of intensity the game had at this moment in the game or if the player had been playing reckless. At first glance, it looks like an accident to us, but we only have 15 seconds to decide so its pretty hard to know for a fact.

Great call automatic decision. Ref had a much better angle than the sideline did here. Player was clearly out of control. It all depends on refs angle tho

@@1Outis1 this is a stretch but I do agree that it wasn't clear at the time whether intentional. however, just look at her reaction afterwards (as you also mentioned). that gives it away! she wanted to stomp on her opponent's face since she was pissed! if I stomped on someone's face in the game and I don't even apologize, check the other player if they are ok, or even help hem get up my intentions are quite clear. actions speak louder than words, or in this case facial expressions 🤷‍♂️

But she didn't even bother to look at what she was doing, she didn't want look so that maybe the referee would'nt notice. And that means it was on purpose, and a clear red card (you know, if I kicked something accidentally, I would sure look at it in surprise. She wasn't surprised, so she already expected it)

Its a hard call.. i would say there is definately a kick, but i would think its a natural movement after a slide tackle, so the red card is a bit hard..

She initially kicked her late after the ball had gone, then kind of ran through her whilst she was on the floor and ended up doing a stumbling, stamping motion. It's minimum a yellow, but if it looked like an intentional stomp to the ref, then I can understand the red. The whole thing was avoidable because she had no need to try to run through the downed opponent in the first place. If the ball is already gone, then I pull out of tackles and try to avoid smashing into opponents late. She could have done the same instead of trying to run through her after the ball had gone.

Ref got this spot on!! At 0:11 the player in the white shirt steps on /kicks the blue player. If its intentional, I don't know, but as a ref I can surely see how from certain angles it would look so. The Laws of the game clearly says that kicking or attempting to kick another player always warrants a red card!

Yup. Red. She may not have been totally malicious but she did her part to casually get away with a stomp.

The action endangered the safety of an opponent (stepping on another player). This warrants a red card, regardless of intention. End of.

@@10thletter40 definitely not as clear a red card as 90 percent of the comments see it. there is no stomp. if anything besides the initial foul after being too late for the ball, there is a kick of the left foot against the right arm/elbow of the defender. that would be a red card. however if that "kick" was intentional or if she just tried to lift her foot over the stumbling defender, but getting caught by her arm, is up for debate. arguably this would not even be a yellow card. you could give a yellow for the initial foul though. and if the kick is intentional it's a red.

She has made a good tackle, then the girl in white has booted her in the leg late after the ball has gone, and then unnecessary tried to run through/over her. I play soccer, and could have avoided any significant contact with the downed opponent in this situation.

I have read a few rules of soccer and this is not a red card it was a complete accident she went to kick the ball but the blue team person put her leg out to stop the white girl from kicking it. The white person had her knees bent after trying to kick the ball so she cant slow herself down or jump high so she is forced to try and jump over which she did but didn't jump high enough and hit the girl in the shoulder. So in all fairness it should have been a drop ball. Also the white player did not mean to kick the girl because if you slow it down you can see the white players trajectory was on the ball. She should of helped the other player up but after the call she was questioning the ref showing that she doesn't think its a red card. you can also see the girl that got hit in the shoulder or head didn't notice anything odd and didn't go "ref that's a foul" she just stood there.

Yeah surely, i see it, when she stomping, it dangerous play and no compromised for that

Law 12 which is fouls and misconduct states that if a player is deliberately stood on then it is a red card offence, now I know some may say that she was trying to get out of the way of her opponent but if she was, then she has been clumsy in doing so. However, it is a definite red card and the correct decision from the referee. I hope you understand and thank you for the uploads. Greetings from England

Anyone that's played the game knows that she knew exactly what she was doing. The player on the end of it knew it which is why she appealed to the ref and the girl that did it knew it which is why she lifted her shirt to partially cover her face (classic guilt reaction that kids do). Excellent officiating.

The red card was exactly right. lol @ the end of video goal, looked almost accidental.

15 years later it is still valid - not only she stomped, but kicked in the shin (too late tackle) with right leg, followed with a sudden push with left (that one was most obvious) and finished with a stomp - there was a try to graze the face too with a boot. All in all disgusting behaviour. I love how she wanted to "play it out" as a fair tackle at the end, but ultimately she didn't even argue that long, since she knew well it was a deserved red.

Being a ref is always hard. No matter are you a ref in a top pro game or some highschool female game. This dude knows the game. He knew where to look.

Stomping on a opponent is a red card. The ball was going out of play and she stomped on her. Violent conduct and if you thought she didn't stomp on her well that studs up tackle on the green jersey girl is a red card.

This is quite clear: Stomping on opponent = intent to injure, therefore, serious foul play, which means a red card + ejection.
