I'm quite jealous!!! I want that panel. I'll tell you my favorite time seeing the display effect was on Trek's episode "Assignment Earth", with Mr. Seven's fancy super computer in his office. That's when they really showed of the display effect and had great sound effects for it, not to mention the interactive computer voice.

@@Freshbrood I meant I am waiting for the M5 chipset for my next upgrade just so I can pretend it is like the M5 from Star Trek. I *hope* we can retrain Siri to respond to other words due to the whole Apple Intelligence that’s coming. 😁

This is an amazing work of art. I'm a big fan of all the times Star Trek used this prop (especially Gary Seven's Beta 5 computer) and just ordered this from you on Etsy.

fascinating - ive been writting a software version of this as a skin for my macOS 'Mack the Moose' - talking moose app. instead of animatting the eyes and mouth of the moose, i realized i could drive the Beta-5 animation off the eye and mouth animattion triggers, and went through just like you frame by frame to get a full detlail of the Beta5 segments. cool to see this is a hardware implementation! 🤩 thxu!

Hi! Thanks and sorry for the late reply. It is actually dark grey transparent plexiglass with the backside painted white and then there are three layered lights masks (for the 200 lights total). The lights are on the bottom panel so it gives 10 cm along with the white paint on the back of the cover plexi-top for diffusing into solid lines.

Better to create an iPad app using the api to connect to Chat GPT Voice and have it flash as it’s “thinking” before replying to the user
