Recreating shots from one of my favourite films

Фильм және анимация

In my pursuit to get better at filmmaking, I am setting myself weekly challenges to improve composition, colour grading and storytelling.
This week I recreated shots from my favourite romantic comedy: About Time! I paired this challenge with a weekend away in Leicestershire with family, which fit perfectly with the aesthetic of About Time.
I wanted to try to catch these shots naturally, without too much direction, which was a fun challenge.
Hope you enjoy this challenge + vlog + film!
For those interested: I used a Sony ZVE1 with a 24mm Sony G Master lens + Tamron 28-75. I also edit in Davinci Resolve and get my music from Artlist.

Loving these videos!! You doing a great job capturing so many scenes from such iconic movies, and love how you've incorporated the family into this one, killing 4 birds with one stone(getting outside, getting creative, meeting a film challenge and capturing family memories all in one! NICE!!) also glad you still braaiing (instead of BBQ😂) now we just need to work on rolling those rrrrr's😂 (brrrrrraai, which leads me to my next question:how do you pronounce your surname? Its quite a common Afrikaans surname in SA pronounced Gggggggerrrrrber, so just curious how you pronounce it in the UK accent 😂) Beautiful shots captured at the end, wow! keep on going, you WILL make an amazing movie one day for a film festival!!! Next suggestion: you mentioned Love Actually, brilliant movie and the scenes at the airport (arrivals) is heartwarming... Just an idea if you happen to live near an airport.... Either way have fun!

Thank you so much! Been a really fun exercise the past few weeks! Got a few more ideas I'm cooking up, which is fun. Oh yes, now it's summer we need to get as many Braai's in as possible! At least 1 or 2 every week! And you're very right, my surname should be pronounced with an Afrikaans accent (which I speak at home with my family), but have had to adapt to a more English friendly way with softer R's over the years haha Also great shout about Love Actually! I'll have to add that to my list!

Yo loved the video! One question: how is zve1 for you? Do you use it only for youtube or also for client work? Overheating?

Thank you so much man! Honestly I am absolutely loving the ZVE1 - just how small it is and the level of quality you can get from it is amazing! I've not used it for client work yet, but will definitely bring it along as a 2nd camera. Probably won't rely solely on it, due to only 1 SD card slot, so no backups. Also not had any issues with overheating and been shooting with it nonstop since I got it a month ago.
