I like how they started out being very careful not to hurt the Suzuki, but eventually resigned to pulling it through hell like a sack of manure.

This came up in my feed 2 years back and that's how i found this channel, and The Fabrats, Robbie Layton and a whole bunch of entertainment. Watching again because it's worth it.

its really cool that it wasnt very rotten in comparison to a car in a salt water lake. its actually really cool that a project like this is being shown.

Hell, back in Ed's day they used to do these trails with ox drawn wagons and skinny wooden tires. So many of them, that they wore ruts into the rock. There weren't no 'recovery' folk then, neither... just Indians looking for scalps and bears looking for food.

Took my buddies '81 Toyota and a '95 Cherokee both had wenches a few days to roll it back over. .Nothing like what you guys have. Honesty, one of my favorite moments growing up in the Rockies. Lots of work. Camped, grilled, crawled around for a few days. Great times. Keep the vid coming

Even though it was a little fun, you guys went beyond all to do something special for Ed. Lizzie just does what needs to be done and is an extra special person.

So entertaining, my off roading mates and I have over the years gotten into some serious comical antics, yet this had me smiling from start to finish. I have to say Lizzie is a legend, that lady has some major awesomeness.

What a first run for the XJ sure if ya make it out nothing will ever stop that build. Matt and you all have made one hell of a recovery jeep. Has to be a world record recovery for the books. Snorkeling too. Amazing job everyone !!!

Lizzie is the toughest member of crew, there's no task she can't handle.

It is very cold water.

Using a helicopter would probably be cheaper and easier, but it’s more entertaining to watch the challenge when using a big off-road truck to drag out the old Suzuki from the ravine. Great hard working team!

That's just good people for you. I've had my truck stuck 15 times and another three trucks stuck who knows how many times trying to rescue a Toyota up a closed mountain road in the winter (don't ask) and we didn't even get him out that day. Also took my flatbed up an open mountain road in the middle of winter to rescue a Subaru Brat that found a ditch and tore one side of the front suspension out. I did get that one out. Sometimes it takes a lot to help people, but for the most part it's worth it. I do leave some people in the ditch every now and then though. They've had a chance at a free pull but ruined it because they're ungrateful assholes that deserve a $1000+ tow bill for something I would have accomplished for free in three minutes.

I stumbled onto this group about an hour ago. Usually I would have passed it by, BUT there is no doubt that this has been one of the most enjoyable selection of postings I have come upon. You all must be good friends to go through DAYS of this.. BTW that Suzuki J is now the most expensive Suzuki J in history. I’m sure. Good Luck … I’m gonna post more comments later on.

40 years ago, there was drivable roads in that forest. Ed let the car in there and when he came back 1 year later, the rocks fell on the roads and the car was stranded. The rest i presume was the earth moving with water and all during the 40 years after.

The whole team is amazing, but this episode really highlighted her durability. I've been shut down - even in my younger days - with only getting wet to my chest in cold water like that. My legs felt like lumps of wet towels.

What a trooper.

I first caught wind of this project from FabRats. I then followed the story to Robby Layton. Then I discovered this series at Matt's channel.. OMG. I can't believe you actually got in and out with the golden nugget. What an impressive feat. Seriously. Outstanding. More people need to watch this adventure from this series, to see just what the retrieval effort required, and how it was when you got it. From there the story just keeps giving. Can't wait to see Eds reaction.

You guys really performed a labor of love here. Honestly, I would have chartered a UH1 and lifted it out.

I would like to thank you Matt. You saved my life today. I was at a gas station when a guy pulls up behind me. As he gets out of his truck, he sees my Matt’s Off Road sticker on my back window. We started talking about this episode. As we talked, we shared our stories and our struggles. I was ready to give up on life. We talked, hugged, cried and prayed. I was noticing the same thing. The expression on his face the entire time was like "My life is now complete". What great people!

There's a lot of stuff on KZread, but this is some of the most interesting real life adventure. Good job guys.

This was so damn epic! Amazing stuff guys, I wouldn’t believe anything like this was possible!

have watched this several times. My favorite line is Paul , says keep going were doing Fine. and Eric yells not were not. It almost rolled over with Both of them standing on the side trying to keep it from rolling. enjoyed his comments during the whole trip.

You've got to love Lizzie. Whether it's welding or jumping into ice water, she's always ready to step up to the plate.

Just a little squawk, then her complaining is over. Every single time, Lizzy is such a trooper and team player. Don't under estimate this kid! She is absolutely essential to this crew.

This recovery will never be topped. Can't wait to see the nugget restored.

Lizzie is a legend. Love her enthusiasm and attitude. And this crew did a great job getting that little LJ20 out given the circumstances. The material I'm seeing about these Hobo Freight winches is steering me towards them. I need something big on the front of my Dodge, and that Warn 16.5TI is not cheap.

Mile marker makes a big winch 17k I think for $900. I have done a lot with mine on my Dodge 2500. Happy with it.

This is the bravest, craziest, most exciting recovery video ever-and better than anything Hollywood has put out in years. I’d pay money to go watch the entire series in the theater.

I can easily see this being an annual special. I sure you guys are already getting messages about people's abandoned vehicles in hard to reach places all over the country. I truly hope these videos do well enough for you to justify a few more of these types of recoveries!!!!

They seem like excellent human beings who would give the shirts off their backs to help others. You come along, see I am from PA and think you need to tell me how bad my state is. Why don't you try putting that energy towards improving other's people's lives instead of criticizing them?

My question is, how did this thing get where it was?

This has to be one of the coolest recoveries I have seen in a long time.. Family, Friends , 4 wheeling, Camping, A tough Recovery adventure and the look in Ed's eyes knowing "We'll get it out".. Matt's Off Road, Fab Rats' and Casey Recovery are must see every episode. Your entire Family does not understand the word can't!

I can’t believe that a plywood door is still ok after 40 years in the right color and who’s painted the door hinges at the other side.

Let's all take a minute to admire what an absolute UNIT the banana is, and what an incredible team there is operating it.

I just discovered this channel and have binge watched the entire thing. This is the best adventure!!!!

Might have been easier to use one of those choppers with a blade at each end (like we used in NAM' 69) and just lift the whole thing up into the sky. It would have been even more sensible to forget the whole thing. But then again, it was so much fun! 🙂
