Definitely going to be using this. Thanks for posting. I restore quite a lot of old photos and what I did for this was make actions that create a duplicate layer with highlights, whites, blacks and exposure adjustments that simulate -.5, -1 or -2 stops of light with a mask that I'd paint in at 10% opacity. Sometimes it's quite surprising how much detail can be recovered that way.

Photoshop is easy, you only have to understand the concept. 😮 And if you don’t, you needn’t look further than for Unmesh. 😊 I am waiting for the day when Adobe releases a Piximperfect version of Photoshop. Another stunning video.

Your videos are such a big help! I take care of a brand of upcycled PVC banners and when I take pictures it always has some kind of obnoxious over exposed area. This is perfect!

You can load the RGB channel as a mask- Cmd (or Ctrl) and click on it in the Channels panel, OR press Cmd (Ctrl), Alt, and 2 to load it as a selection. Then create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and you will have a mask that applies this adjustment based on the luminance values.

Only those who know and have used the intersection of selections know how useful this feature is!

You can use frequency separation and then brush the skin colour to areas where the texture and colour are blown out. It works but always try to keep as much detail as possible.

I thought that's it's possible to do that with forcing PS to open the file with Camer raw And than adjust the highlights? And the blue on the shirt is because that he's looking at the sky. so I'd leave the blue on the shirt or desaturate the sunglasses.

Not if the highlights are blown out. Sometimes this can be the case with RAWs too, and sometimes you may only have a jpeg to work with.
