My laptop may have physical bad sectors. The SMART diagnostic reveals to switch the HDD. I am looking for an answer if chkdsk delete files although we have found.000 folders which it tries to recovers. For picture, you need to change the extension but the partition C: is for OS and program tool and safe mode doesn't have any issue with OS. It is worth to launch chkdsk /r on Recovery Environment? The partition still have space for recovering data.

Hello my harddisk are corrupted yesterday and cant boot up disk C, but another partition of D is doing fine, i manage to scan and fix by using chkdsk till the drive C can open again, but it seems i lost almost entire data especially the data in Users folder, can i recover the data in users folder only? Sorry for the late reply. Yes, it is possible to recover the data from "Users" folder only. Not all of the files can be recovered but many files can be recovered in many cases.

The files still remain as CHK files for me. Why can't I recover the original files?

I've recovered all my files as you mentioned, but all the "corrupted" files are still in *.chk file format - any way of changing them back to Pics and Videos??

Corrupted files lose bits of data. It is important to stop using HDD after the disk errors. Because data gets rewritten. It is hard to recover CHK files but even if you recover them in proper formats, there will be missing information in files. For example, an image can't load completely. Some viewers may show errors. Let's hope that the data is still there and you can recover it soon.

Connect another drive and save your files there. Or else, it will corrupt/overwrite the data. Good Luck.

Found.000 is the folder we need to recover files. It contains .CHK files that contain corrupted disk partition data. It means there is a chance that you can recover your files. Also, I would suggest getting a new drive later for storing your data. I hope you recover your data soon. Take care and stay safe, bro.

Hmm.. looks like the partition got corrupted. If you have another drive that is not important, then I would suggest you to make a back up copy of this new found.000 into that drive and apply the same steps to see what you can recover from it. Hope you get your files! Good Luck.

Try 'Deep Scan' option. If it still doesn't work and if the files are important, it is better to consult a Data Recovery expert in your region. Sorry for the late reply.
