More high level skiers with youtube channels need to drop fail compilations lol. Fr now, too many people rely on whether or not they fall or fail in some way while skiing to determine whether they're good skiers or not but in the end, if you want to become better and explore new facets of skiing you need to push yourself and falls will be inevitable... You can't let insecurities related to failure ruin your progress. You also can't let other irrational fears get in your way. Start small/slow and build from there! All Im gonna say is that falls and fun go together like riseandalpine and hot sauce. At least when I ski, I'm always experimenting with ways to improve and sometimes they just don't improve my skiing... It's not always fun to fall (especially if injuries beyond a couple bruises are involved...) but it's part of that experimentation process and once you find something that takes you to that next level, it is so damn rewarding, even if it's just equipment related. Good equipment is important as much as old heads with their skinny racer skis may say otherwise lol. When trying out new things start slow but don't be afraid to progress. As long as you keep it as safe as possible, take calculated risks, n go bigger little by little, you'll more likely than not be fine. Also, when you're just starting, get lessons... Seriously, go to a smaller resort and get someone to teach you the basics. If you're lucky enough to know a friend or family member who's an experienced skier who's willing to teach you stuff, do that instead. As long as they aren't the type to stick you on a double black to mess with you lol.

My worst double ejection was last year when I crashed at 65 kph and broke my neck. I also did a really bad back slap a few years ago where I got a bad concussion and had double vision for 3 weeks (I got lucky, I know someone who did the exact same thing, and their vision never returned to normal). While we all know the risks, but the rewards outweigh them, and I got back on skis for a 4 day Whistler trip in early December. First day was a bit sketchy, but by day 4, I completely forgot about my accident last year.

Feb this year (2023) Pow day through Gun barrels.(pushing my ability) I have no idea what happened, but fell hard enough to whack my head into something behind me, saw a flash of light and heard a crunch in my neck. Scared the hell out of me, got checked out by the ski patrol seemed ok but took the rest of the day off. I've skied back home many times since, but the neck still hurts. Oh yeah, and bark sandwich split lip at my local hill too. Didn't fall though and skied the rest of the day. Like you said, helmet and goggles are a must for the trees. Thanks for all the cool vids, I should have binged on them (and Onecut) before I went out there, not after LOL.

@@riseandalpine Oh I'll be back LOL. I'm 60 and coming back to skiing after 30 years off. That crash came at the end of a 5 day trip where I got to experience steep (I know gun barrels isn't steep on the "Whistler scale" but it's steep to me) powder through the trees. What a gas! I'm so jazzed to come back and ski some more of that! You and Rick have really opened up how Whistler can be skied depending on your ability. Thanks to you both for doing that. BTW a major contributor to that crash was being a bit too wigged out by the spectre of tree wells.

I went to whistler this Easter and skied saudan Couloir right after the race and I was turning down the carved out track and my ski ejected but luckily I didn’t go flying down the rest of the run. I only went for the three day break so I didn’t have many falls and most were just trippin over my skis on flat.

I just started skiing last season and had the great idea to ski off my roof 8ft to flat ice. Ate poo hard twice before I finally landed the third time. Also whipped out lots hurting my heals trying 360s. Another good one id when I was skiing one of those east coats super tight tree trail and went flying off a bump straight into a big tree

My craziest experience was veering off a cat track because I was quite tired, it was the 3rd day of my trip and my body gave out & went into the back seat. Luckily, one ski ejected and the other one wasn't in a very awkward position. It was about 70cm of pow so it was quite difficult to get back on the run. This happened at Revelstoke.

Pow releases should be rare .wind up thee bindings...I am 100kg. 11 toes and 12 heels. And you? Like your video and positive vibes!!! However the cost was on a series of 3 drifts at Reve. 1st pitched me forward. 2nd compression put full tension on my hamstrings. 3rd tore the common origin tendon. About 1/3 of it left. 2 years limping and all good now but I do not resist those forward falls anymore. Just eat it and go with the flow. I only ski POW!!! Happened first run...yes I skied the day out...had to compensate a lot but you can still ride with some serious injuries. Not recommended.

This wasn’t in whistler but this perisher Australia ski season I was skiing down a steep hill quite fast and then there was a burm kinda thing so I went around it and there was a lot of ice so I lost control and went over a mogul and jumped like 2.5 meters and fell down the really Steep hill and went over a lot of moguls on my back faceing down the hill and was going really fast and couldn’t stop myself and went off a few meter high cliff. Fortunately I only sustained a sprained ankle (I don’t really know how I sprained it in a ski boot but I did)
