Records show Marcoses arrived in Hawaii in 1986 with properties worth millions

In a recent interview on Australian television, President Marcos, when asked about his family's ill-gotten wealth, claimed that they were left with nothing after their family left the Philippines. Records show they brought valuable items worth millions of pesos when they fled to Hawaii.
Even though those were later confiscated by US Customs, news reports in succeeding years said they lived an extravagant lifestyle in the island-state.

I lived next door to the Marcoses in Aina Haina valley on Oahu island. I met Imelda several times and she was very charming. Her husband , what was his name ? Ferdinand , never left the house and they had armed guards all around the house 24/7.

How come the people in the interview who have first hand encounter with the Marcoses tells a different story, and the only person to talk about the "millions" that they brought with them is a single person only reading from a text.
