You can tell how competitive everyone is with each other through each driver's opinion.

imo it seems like chasing records constantly would be no fun. the way he said "working on your car for 200 hours for 4 minutes of driving and not beat the record" kinda made me sad

It's beyond hobby for these guys, it's a lifestyle now... This is why people go the "show car" route lol, it's easier and cheaper (in the long run) than the track life lol

Amazing episode filled with some really important quotes. I love what James said. "When you used to wrench on your car for an hour to get it ready for an event you think, this is really fun, I had a fun day today. You know, it didn't necessarily go like we wanted it to but it was fun. When you start getting to the point where you work on the car for two or three hundred hours to drive it for 4 or 5 laps, you can't just say that was fun and not remember that you stayed up every night late for two weeks before an event prepping it, and then it was 'oh wow, the track was fun, I went 3 seconds slower than what we came here to do, but the track was fun.' That's not just not in the equation anymore. "

It made sense, but that's the problem. When you don't enjoy it anymore you should take a break or something. I remember the first vids I saw James he was smiling a lot more, and now he just looks kind of depressed/machine like (Unlike Au-young). I am an athletes so I can relate to that feeling of never being satisfied and always having high expectations, but if the fun factor is not in the equation anymore, then you should definitely change your perspective.

alpacarama There’s the HPDE Plus Class which is meant for daily driven cars with bolts on at most.

There was a badass FC there and all we got were some side shots and an audio clip at the beginning??? Disappoint.......... Still great coverage though so thanks for covering these events!

Of course there's first, second, third etc etc but these guys aren't going out there to finish in third place. They want first and they want those records. Just like Ricky Bobby said "if you ain't first, you're last!"
