I know that exhaustive tests like this are very time consuming so I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for putting in the hours. 🙂

Thank you Xander! They are time consuming but have been so helpful for us getting to know all of our mics. It's interesting how some of these mics sounded different than I thought they would.....even though I've owned and used them for years! It's fun sharing all this with everyone too. The next one is coming later this month....Stay tuned and thanks for watching!

_Quick! B4 my ears are too shagged out..._ Center - v251, U87 Edge - S25, mini K87 Off axis - AE3000, mini K67X I'd couple any of the above with a S55 or SM57 as "presence" mic

Good choices! And yes it's a TON of mid-range for the ears to take all at one sitting. I just started using the A3000 again and love it!

I've always loved the off axis position because it blends the cut and attack of the center with the body of the edge position. literally every mic showcased that. the phone was very cool, One thing that was not surprising was the Neumann U87 being the cleanest, most transparent and most transient permitting microphone.

When you uploaded the KZread Short video a few days ago, I ask my wife if she could name all of the microphones and name their typology. The only ones she missed were the Heil mics. I was actually impressed. As for this video specifically; I love testing all of my mics on a single source like this, even if I think I already know the outcome. We've got around 70 or so mics so it takes some time. I get a little nutty and test the multiples of the same mic. So If I have 7 SM57 mics or stereo pairs of condensers, I've gotta test them all. There are small differences. (Edit) Holy shit, the Shure 565 Unisphere sounds fantastic. Ebay/Reverb here I come.

Very impressive!! We left out a bunch of mics. I think sometimes it's more about reset of the ears than finding out something new about the mics. While mics can change over time I think our ears change more. Or maybe our preferences do. Though adding new mics into the mix can change that too. That 565 is pretty cool. There are also a few combinations I want to try after hearing all of these back to back.

@@Ultimatestudiosinc I totally agree about the resetting our ears. Even though we've got a nice cabinet of microphones, I find myself (and others) continually using a smaller and smaller selection as time goes on. We almost forget the qualities of the various microphones.

Both killer choices! The 4050 is a workhorse. It just works. To me it made the tone sound more 3d than some of the other mics.

@@Ultimatestudiosinc totally agree. I've used a 4050 on so many sources, acoustic guitar, kick drum, guitar cabs, and of course vocals. Workhorse is absolutely the right word. Your videos are so brilliant, really love this content! Thanks for the incredible hard work
