    I remember when I lived in Arizona. One summer there was a brutal heatwave and it got into the 120s. It was unbearable. So hot you can’t eat and all you want is water. I can’t imagine how hard heat like that must be in the UK when they’re not accustomed to it at all.

    For the people who think this isn't a big deal because it gets hotter in other places: You have to understand, places where these temperatures are more common EXPECT these temps. They build their infrastructure with these conditions in mind to prevent the types of issues mentioned in the video. The people who live in hotter/harsher climates are also more conditioned for that type of environment.

    Sure, people here who can walk into air conditioned stores will stop buying products produced in sweat shops abroad with no air conditioning. I'm sure people will also take a moral stand against electric cars considering the batteries used in the cars are called blood batteries in parts of Africa, because the mines have been destroying fresh water ways, have decimated the local landscape, and brought bad health and birth defects to the local populations. China runs the mines for precious metals in the democratic republic of the Congo, and they don't have the most humane work conditions. Watch the west stand up, I don't think so.

    Are people really that dim that they can’t understand the UK is not used to these sorts of temperatures? From the comments about how hot it is in Mexico and certain states in the U.S. I can only conclude they are. As interesting as that is, it’s utterly irrelevant to what is currently happening in the UK. Here’s why - the UK generally has mild summers and cold winters. Therefore, the UK is not built for the temperatures we’ve had this week. If it was, our infrastructure would have been designed to withstand those temperatures. We do not have air conditioning everywhere, our homes are designed to keep us warm not cool.

    don't mind those. it reaches 40+°C here in the Philippines and we still find it unbearable, and we're used to warmer climate. i can only imagine how much more unbearable it is in Europe where it's colder so the houses and other infrastructure are built for the cold. my advice is to drink water and bring some water spray bottle and spray yourself from time to time. and just avoid dark colored clothes especially outside.

  • @crompee

    @crompee

    Жыл бұрын

    the clue to stop you being baffled is in what you said... it's normal weather for your country. Europe is mild heat with lots of cold spells, that means that all buildings are built to trap heat inside with no air con,pools or cooling measures anywhere. Our homes become saunas and there is no escape from the heat. Your home's are built to let the heat escape and it's cooler inside that outside. we have full insulation in thick walls, loft padding/insulating and double glazed windows. This is very effective at trapping heat inside the building which is what the usual priority is. This means, we have no escape from the heat, inside your home is often hotter than it is outside. So we have no rest from the heat and as such, become very susceptible to heat stroke/death. On top of this, none of our infrastructure is built to manage heat as it's designed to work in cold temperatures, airport tarmac has melted, train lines have been forced to close, etc. It's not that the temperature is higher than other parts of the world, it's that the temperature has far exceeded what any of our infrastructure/homes are designed to handle.
