@@shayden4168 As good as they may look, the trouble with the pools being decided years before the world cup, pools A and B are far, far stronger than the others. Scotland still unlikely to get out of the group stages, the game against Ireland in October will be massive. No home advantage for either. Japan did it to SA a in a world cup, maybe Scotland can but it's a very tough pool - and I'm a Scotland supporter. Pool A is just as mad for Italy, France and the All Blacks. Put Scotland in pool C against Wales and Australia, they'd do very well.

Finn was on absolute fire this game, amazing.

Finn might be getting the glory but no doubt Sione Tuipulotu is simply outstanding.

If he gets injured we are in trouble. I may not live in Scotland, but being born there I am as proud as any other. This team has balance and strength and is playing a full 80-minute game. The games against France and Ireland will show where they are at, but to win 2 games in a row for the first time in 28 years is brilliant.

Sadly Wales is not where they have been in the past, but like Scotland the number of players available is rellatively small. Unlike here in New Zealand where rugby has the biggest numbers playing. Scotland and Wales have football to compete with. I have so much respect for Welsh teams in the past and the players, who would be some of the greatest in history. The Lions team that came here in 1971 is evidence of this.

I am from there too, but am a proud Scot, being from the Borders. Russell's skill and ability to read the game is a large part of the Scot's success. If Russell gets injured we will see how much he runs the team and if the replacement player can keep things going. I am impressed with the team, and for the first time it was good to see the opposition being given yellow cards because of the pressure the Scots put on them.

@@furiousscotsman2916 I have always said that and we are the most optimistic of people as one day we will beat the All Blacks. The 2nd test in 1991, the draw in 1983, and last year's game, which I felt the Scots were unlucky not to have won. Russell is the X-factor but if he gets injured we will find out how the team can play without him. It is almost like he is playing a different game than anyone else.

I am a fan of Rugby Union; I am not going to write an essay of a comment; Scotland were better in the past; since the Six Nations (Scotland is inconsistent which is a fair statement) - winning the cups between the Home Nations is nothing spectacular TBH; Scotland yet to defeat the mighty All Blacks BTW; this is the benchmark your country should strive for (play 32 - Drawn 2, Loss 30) and it is still early for the Six Nations plus there is Rugby World Cup this year too (playing two major tournament within a calendar year means Scotland pool of players will perform badly in the World Cup while England/France/New Zealand have ample of stars that they can call up to the fray to freshen up their National Team) - if I want to nt pick Scotland performance; can they sustain playing two major tournaments within a calendar year?

Since then they have failed to beat a single Tier 1 side at the world cup excluding Italy which is an embarrassing record. They also got knocked in the pool stages of the last 2 out of 3 world cups and were slaughtered by Ireland in the last world cup. So how is OP's statement that Scotland don't do well at the world cup or are inconsistent wrong exactly?
