Thank you so much! I finally found a helpful video on this. I thought I had to input all numbers in but now I see I need to pay attention to the route in the physicians order. I have a dosage test coming up for nursing entrance and have to do reconstitution

How interesting, I used the 500mg as the Dose available and then times it by the 8mL of final volume. I came to the same answer as well!

That makes sense! Looks like another way to solve the question using the original numbers 😀 You're dividing by 8x the value (62.5mg x 8 = 500mg) and then multiplying by 8x the value (1mL x 8 = 8mL) so they cancel each other out. Good catch

Hi KV, I have some drug calculation quizzes and practice worksheets on RPNT.ca! Some are free, and some require a one-time paid subscription. You can use the following links to find them: Drug calculation quizzes: rpnt.ca/practice/drug-calculation-quizzes/ Nursing worksheets: rpnt.ca/notes/nursing/ I hope that helps! 😀

Thanks Ryan, you've made it so easy compared to other videos using the dimensional analysis which I find to be complicated and unnecessary. 😁 is the answer 3.5ml for the IV administration?

  • @NurseRyan

Sorry for the late response! I find this method much easier, and use it all the time in practice! And yes, that's correct, the answer would be 3.5 mL for IV administration 😀

Hi, you would need an 'approximate volume after reconstitution' value which should be somewhere in the question in order to complete these kinds of questions!
