Спорт

Last week I was in Andorra to train and explore a part of the Vuelta course. While exploring the 3rd, the first mountain, stage we ran into some fans, fellow cyclists and an exclusive give-away 👀.

    @@abuleledyasi3272If you don’t know somebody personally you cannot judge. He is a down to earth guy. Very humble and kind. But he is a winner. And like the author said the media portraits that winning attitude completely wrong. Here in Belgium he is hated so much by Van Aert (cyclocross) fans and by Club Brugge supporters who cannot stand that he played for the arch rival Anderlecht brfore he started cycling. Dumb people.

    The media doesn't sell stories about someone being down to earth 95% of the time. They pick out the 5% of drama every time again to sell their stories. The occasional viewer thinks those 5% is representative for that rider. And the more famous someone is, the more skewed and selective the media will cover said person.

    Many do, particularly Belgians who are bilingual in any case. English being a universal language adds to the impression.

  • @robbeelsas

    @robbeelsas

    @@nicholastaylor4437 Belgians being bilingual in Dutch and French by default is a bit of a stretch but it generally does apply to the people from the part of Belgium where Remco grew up (that is, the Flemish corridor around Brussels). However, you won't find many people fluent in Dutch in the deep South nor people fluent in French in the (North-)East. I would even argue that most Flemish people below a certain age (I'd say Gen X and younger) are more fluent in English (and Dutch obviously) and that this is also increasingly the case for Walloons (be it in English and French), although they typically have less of a "need" for English because of the proximity of France and its cultural influence over southern Belgium to this day. The most impressive people to me are actually the German speaking Belgians because a lot of them speak 4 languages to a certain extent.

    What an absolute sweetheart! I only started watching cycling at the Giro but kept hearing about Remco Evenepoel and a lot of people saying not nice things. I didn’t really see much of him properly until La Vuelta and right from the start, I liked him. Things didn’t go well from the start and we thought he was justified in being unhappy. Then when he had his bad day, we really felt for him. When he followed it with an amazing performance the next day. I actually stood up and clapped for him, and also cried a bit. From then he sealed our support. Can’t believe people aren’t nice about him. Actually, I can. Some people are miserable. Anyway, he’s just lovely and we’re huge fans in my household

    This young man is doing great and I didn't think he could develop a convincing authenticity for me. Training and competitions are one thing, but at the same time the almost comical self-confidence (for me) is already something bigger, but maybe only on KZread. I wasn't a Remco fan (and will propably never be because Tadej is my favourite rider) but the video Remco produces are super cool and he looks like a really chilly and cool dude.

    Hey Remco, Ik ben Jelte Wouters, ik ben 8 jaar en ik ben jouw grootste fan! De foto op mijn kamer van jou in je regenboogtrui op de weg van vorig jaar heb ik al veranderd door een nieuwe in je nieuwe trui van het tijdrijden, een echte trui van jou ernaast zou mij super blij maken!! Veel succes nog met de ronde van Spanje, ik supporter elke dag hard voor jou. Veel groetjes Jelte

    Gran bel video, fa piacere che un professionista del tuo calibro possa condividere queste informazioni di carattere tecnico, noi amatori, amanti delle due ruote, amiamo vedere video con questi contenuti... Complimenti a te come persona, sembri un ragazzo tranquillo , anche spiritoso... Buona fortuna per la vuelta e che vinca il migliore 💪🏻 Dario
