Will watch the rest of the video but wanted to pause at 1:46 to say I would absolutely *love* if you covered some of the higher-level, high-profile tournaments with analyses, recaps, etc. I know lots of other chess content creators and educators already do that, but your perspective on those events - especially thoughts about the players, the context, the experience of playing in such tournaments - would be awesome. Many of the other popular channels do a great job of churning out recaps of these events that are almost a radio play-by-play hype style commentary. They're very entertaining. I think a John Bartholomew style 30-45' video on just one or two particularly instructive/meaningful game(s) from such a tournament would be welcome, unique, and interesting. I know I'd watch it. Thanks for all you do!

Def would love that! John offers a deeper bts of thought process and can break it down to a wide range of players so that everyone takes something away from it. I like other recaps too, but this would be my favorite place to watch them, for sure

I really have to admire you, John. Not a lot of IM's would have the brutal honesty with themselves to post a game like this where you made an almost comedic barrage of mistakes and misses, even if you won in the end. Kudos. _"You have to analyze your own games, guys!"_ So true!

Extract the lesson, but don't ruminate on your mistakes. I love that advice. You shouldn't ignore your mistakes, but you also shouldn't dwell on them beyond what is useful. Thanks John!

You make a good point at 19:41 about Game Review being harsh, with 8...e6 being awarded a question mark. There's actually a way to change your default engine strength of Game Review - you can click on the settings icon while in Game Review, and set it to "Maximum" strength. It will take a little longer, but when I tried it seemed to give more sensible annotations (like considering 8...e6 just an inaccuracy).

Nepo's play in a sometimes lost position against Caruana was inspired. He kept finding extremely annoying moves that forced Fabiano to use extra time in an already dire clock situation. This is so frustrating to play against that when the opportunity for the win does come you might miss it because you're so frazzled. That is what happened to Fabiano. Qe8+ Qe2+. That was it. Fabiano was dumbfounded when he saw that in the press conference after the game.

7:50 It's NOT an "idea" if you just CHECK, where the knight can go. As a self trained "GM" :) that's my simple "go to", just see where all the pieces can go, that's like using your time MOST effectively. The faster you do that the better.

Hey John, some advice from a far inferior player (a bit over 2000 ELO before the FIDE boost): I see you in a lot of these rapid games (not this one in particular, but have been a viewer for some years now) going from careful consideration of moves straight into bullet mode. I think it can be a problem to only play on two gears if you know what I mean. Especially at around the 2-3 minute mark, speeding up but not necessarily blitzing could make a difference in converting more easily. Anyway, just something I noticed over a period of time. Take from it what you will.
