This is a fantastic video. Our son has this and his seizures, although few will last about 30 minutes. Each time he has one it lasts longer. The medication in the ED were at the max and he almost needed to be intubated. Right now he is ten and I am excited we will be moving to Rochester, MN for a year so that I can tap into the great knowledge base there.

My 9 years old daughter was diagnosed with non convulsive seizure yesterday. It took the doctors 4 years to find out what is causing her zombies like behavior. Where is awake but non responsive. Everyone said she has anxiety. Many of the doctors told me they can't help me because they don't understand her symptoms. My daughter has seizure episode last up to 16 to 17 hours a day every week. A sleep specialist scheduled her a full head CEG in sleep study. Luckily it was the day she was having the episode. I just realized this could have killed her any day.

Having a seizure can be depressing..especially if you dont know how long one lasted. This last seizure i felt really messed me up. I was in the bathroom and felt it coming..i blacked out..all i did was miss one pill but i was very stressed..family picking fights with me to trigger a seizure. Working on moving out..but this last seizure has slow me down alot..i forget quicker and takes me forever to finish shopping. I survived falling in the shower..on the toilet..down the stairs..right when i parked my car..i just cant believe i survived it all..this comes with so much fear. But brought me closer to God.

This was really interesting to watch. I have epilepsy and have gone into non convulsive status many times that usually ends in a tonic clonic which lasts a couple of minutes. Longest status I had lasted over 10 hours, how I survived that I have no idea. I didn’t realise non convulsive was more life threatening, my neurologist has never really expressed the urgency of my epilepsy.

I will go to sleep and wake up days later in the hospital with them pulling out a breathing tube and I'll have a cathidar in me. The first time the ambulance thought I overdosed so mistreated me and the second time I also started as convulsive and then was non convulsive for maybe a day again and am not sure if the next one will kill me or not

More nurses and doctors need to learn to recognize NON CONVULSIVE status epilepticus is still an active seizure requiring intervention, not just let patient sit there in status. Too many home health medical professionals think it's okay to stop the "timer" once FULL BODY shaking has ceased, but what they miss is the patient's fingers, arms, toes, feet, leg, etc..are STILL SHAKING and they aren't responsive, not returning to baseline, thus it's still an active seizure. So many nurses don't understand this in home health.

I've had grand mals for 10 or 12 years. They use to be weekly and many meds later and a VNS they are down to maybe a month or so. I have been seeing a neurogist for that full time. I just wondering the problems with seizures that always last over 5 min 7 8 9 min with most of them being longer like 15 to 20 21 mins. My doctor does not seem worried about it. I'm just wondering if this has happened with anyone else.

Why don't they test for this routinely in confused patients? I have been trying to get my father's doctors to test for this and they refuse saying he is confused for other reasons. Just because there are other possible causes doesn't mean it isn't NCSE so why don't they just test for it? I don't get it. He is not just confused, he is halucinating, unaware of surroundings, and not able to hold eye contact (seems like an absence seizure to me).

Many types of seizures almost all can lead to confusion, short term memory loss and deja vu. Especially after the seizures. I once text my aunt 2 times in one day telling her that I had an episode of seizures. I pretty much started the same conversation twice. And absentee seizure with people not acting normal as if they are sleep walking happed 4 times with me. It should be an obvious sign that is pretty unique to this kind of seizure. For some reason though this kind seizure it is more rare than others.

This is where I need to be, I have Tonic Clonic seizures that last up to thirty minutes. I'm tired of going to the hospital and wish a friend could give me an injection instead.
