Oh I miss building this style. We called it a 711 in plant. It's easy to see why they were discontinued though a lot of framers took shortcuts on them and they'd just fall apart but the fact is these oddball need more staples compared to most other frames. Still they were fun to build

Thank you.. took more time to tie the twine together than it took to put the spring on a recliner.

Hello again - That La-Z-Boy arm frame appears to be the same shape as my 1999 chair (which is now called the Astor), although mine is made from solid wood / plywood, rather than particle board. It's the one I've been trying to replace the armrest foam on - hoping that I wouldn't have to completely remove the upholstery. After seeing this disassembly process, I realize I will have to remove the upholstery from the chair base, in order to replace the foam.

@David Baldock - If the arm pad is loose inside a zippered compartment -- like the one in the video -- there's a shortcut that can save you a lot of time. Carefully cut the threads along a seam to open the arm pad to remove the foam. Install a new piece of foam, then hand stitch the seam closed again. If the foam is physically attached to the frame instead, you'll have to completely remove the cover to do the repair. And that repair is more difficult than the one shown in the video. Contact La-z-boy and provide them with your ACK & style numbers to learn which type of arm pad you have.

Is it possible to convert a Brooks recliner over to a rocker recliner? Possibly just changing the base or is it totally different?

Hi...I have a recliner/rocker that I cannot fit through a door, even after removing the back. Is it possible to remove the metal bars from the bottom of it without messing anything up, or the springs popping off of it?

@maureenbaker9717 - If the bars are simply floor rails, yes you can remove them. However, if springs (or anything else) are attached to them, take a photo before removal so you can reattach them properly. See this video to learn more -----> kzread.info/dash/bejne/fK2Z2tl7ctObn7g.html

How do you keep the manual back to stay in the recline position. Mine moves forward back to straight (slowly).

@kimberlyharvey4957 - A couple of possibilities to consider: If you have a short torso & the chair has a tall back, there may not be enough body weight against the back to keep it reclined. See this video to learn more about proper fit -------> kzread.info/dash/bejne/eJuZybxyoczbc5c.html If your recliner happens to be a La-z-boy, there's a tension adjust for the back tilt that may help -------> kzread.info/dash/bejne/l3uNtZNwmNm1qrw.html

Lazy Boy Swivel Rocker had a black bolt that broke but it still worked. That is until this evening. It won't stay up in a reclined position. Can someone help me?

@Gayle A - The round base will have to be removed to inspect the mechanism & bases. If you're not mechanically inclined it's best to hire an experienced La-z-boy repair tech to diagnose & repair.

Both arms are loose on both sides yet the push back recline works. It stands on legs. Is this repairable? It is a risk as it is currently.

What is actually broken? I can put my arm in the sides and I do not find any middle areas that connect.

@Linda Rojewski - See this video to learn how push-back recliners arms are attached ----> kzread.info/dash/bejne/nYyXzLeSgpXZnNI.html If the arms are loose, the frames are loose or broken. The arms will have to be removed & the cover loosened to inspect the joints. If no frame parts are broken -- only separated -- they can be repaired. Or if the frames joints are good, but the arm is just loose where it attaches, tighten it. If one or both frames are broken, they may be repairable. The options are: #1 Check with the manufacturer to see if a replacement frame is available. #2 Have a wood worker cut a replacement panel or frame board so the frame can be rebuilt. Caution! If the frame construction is poor quality, rebuilding may not be feasible or practical.

What a cheap piece of crap! I don’t understand how this repair is practical. How about a budget breakdown on time and material vs. pitching it and buying a new one.
