Great video. Learned about Brewfather's existance due to watching your content. This video explains it's functions/options in great detail. Cheers.

You should have said “cannot be overstated.”
Great vid. Definitely learned more about the tool than I thought it could do. Thanks!
Great video, thanks!

Thank you! Keep up the good work, we love your software :)
I've been playing around with the free Brewfather since you're last video and I gotta say you explained things so clearly and I might be officially converting over.
Finally made the switch from BeerSmith! Don’t know why I took so long, so much more user friendly and love the inventory function!
Great video. You could fill hours with Brewfather content, but you covered most of the important stuff for profiles. One important thing you didnt mention is the IBU number at the top of the hop addition sub-screen. Keeping an eye on this allows you to substitute hops with different AA% when following a recipe.

Good point! The IBU calculator is key for scaling recipes too.
I think this is a great video!! I would have liked to see you squeeze in yeast starter walk through as well! But overall great work!

Thanks, Devin! I agree that a yeast starter video would be a good addition!
I have just started experimenting with Brewfather. I have the Clawhammer Supply 240v 20 gallon BIAB system. I notice Brewfather only has a profile for the 120v version. I assume I have to copy it and tweak it to be more accurate for what I have?
Love brewfather on the homebrew scale, I am trying to build a profile for the 5bbl system at the pro brewery I work at. Do you have a link to any information on that? Great video as always..
Hey there I also have the clawhammer 10 gallon system I would be interested to see your values in the equipment profile as I am just starting with brewfather and I have noticed they dont have one pre built for the 10 gallon system
Thanks for this in depth tutorial. I am having trouble changing from "no sparge" to sparge. I have it set to batch sparge but it is not showing up that way in my recipes. What am I missing?
I wish Brewfather had an input field for a flat volume of sparge water. I always mash in with 6.5gal of strike water on my Anvil Foundry, then vary my strike water volume to compensate for different absorption losses depending on grain bill.
Coming up on my first time brewing beer. Got an 8.5 gallon kettle (no valve at the bottom) coming, 3 gallon speidel fermenter coming, I have grains, Hops, yeasts for some recipes. A bit nervous. Going with distilled water and going to add in...hopefully the right minerals. I don't understand if you are going to make a 3 gallon batch, why you can't go with an initial amount of water to total everything expected to lose to grains and evaporation. I know...someone is going to ask why I didn't get a pot with the valve...because Northern Brewer had a plain 8.5 gallon on sale for about $60. If I like this, later I'll get an 8.5 gallon with valve and eventually add wort chiller, etc. Anyway, I'm going to try some 1, 2 and 3 gallon beers (I have those carboys). Wish me luck @
I tried it, I'll stick to beer smith. But we all have our prefrences.
Like you, I see that after the water adjustments on my recipes, the target water profile numbers are not met exactly. Is this normal and as close as one can expect to get when starting with r/o source water?

Yeah, building up from RO is the simplest way (in my mind) to hit consistency over time. Getting close to the target profile is good enough, so I don't worry too much if it's a tiny bit off.
I like how Pro Mash separates out the recipe from the session, but I did transition to Beersmith a year ago and just deal with the two being tangled. Seems like this has the same "problem"

In Brewfather you create a batch that is separate.
So much easier for me than Beersmith
Is there a way to find out my pre sparge gravity so I can stop mashing when I’ve hit that gravity?
@markmulligan1309

Just test a sample of the wort with a hydrometer or whatever method you use to measure sg.

@@markmulligan1309 yeah I knew that I was just wondering if I could work out the pre sparge gravity and then take a reading so then I can stop mashing and still hit my sg. Thank you for trying to help though
@markmulligan1309

@@si3427 it gives pre boil gravity in the software so maybe just aim at hitting that.
@bigpopbrewing

@@markmulligan1309 Agreed, the pre-boil gravity is what to watch for. Just spare until you hit the desired PB number.
Nice video, and actually it'd be a great content for (almost) any Ytb channel, but sorry (and pls no offense) ... this is NOT Brulosophy (or Brulosophy as I know it, at least)

I maybe wrong but I think Brulosophy is headed in a different (more general) direction now and I for one am pleased about that.
