Recalibrate the battery meter in Bluetti solar generators

This video documents the procedure to recover a Bluetti Solar generator in the case where the battery meter has become inaccurate. Symptoms of this are generally: charging taking too long, charging not taking long enough, or battery percentage dropping dramatically during discharging.
This procedure works on all current production (Dec-2022) Bluetti units, including the modular solar generators.
Very specifically, it works on Bluetti's AC50, EB3A, EB55, EB70, EB70S, AC200P, AC200Max, AC300, AC500, EP500, and EP500Pro. It also works on the B230, B300, and B300S batteries.
It is likely this same procedure will continue to work on future models as well, but I do not have direct confirmation of that from Bluetti.

I have owned two of these Bluetti devices. Without going into irrelevant, lengthy details, the first one failed completely and they replaced it with the one I have now. It has done better--meaning it has not failed so far--but this rapid-discharge problem has been happening for months. It is also different from the conditions in the video, so I saved this video thinking I might need it one day, and here is that day.

I ran my AC200P to zero by accident and it killed the display so Bluetti sent me another unit under warranty. I was told that the new unit has been reprogrammed so that if you run it to zero this will not happen again. I love my Bluetti and have used it a lot for my RV. It makes camping a lot easier. Thanks for the video.

Great information. I have an AC 200 Max and two expansion batteries. I just got this so it's brand new. But I'm starting a file of different things that could go wrong with it and your video is going to be the number one on the list in case it happens to me. The first thing I did when I got it I upgraded the firmware which at first didn't work. It actually bricks the system at first. I had to try 15 times to install the new firmware and finally it worked. That was brand new out the package I almost cried because I thought my $4,500 had gone down the drain instantly.

BTW, THANKS for this important info. BLUETTI should have included in the owner's manual (which I have written into it).

Your instruction sets are very helpful and appreciated. As another viewer already mentioned, Bluetti recommends cycling the battery every 6 months (AC300 manual) presumably for those who have a non-permanent install of this equipment for emergency use only. Although they don't specifically say to run it down until the unit turns off, that seems like the best option and, thanks to your video, a very good reason to have a T-500 adaptor on hand.

Found your post and followed the instructions. Worked like a charm. Instead of an expensive internal problem, a simple recovery and mind easing results. Thank you for posting your findings. Have a great evening.

Thanks for the video was just about to return my Bluetti and seen your video. I have only had it for 2 months and use it everyday it has about 50-60 cycles on the life of the battery so far. The last week or so after running a very light load of 20 watts the battery meter dropped from 100% down to 20% in only 4 hours. I was like what the heck is going on. I bought a killawatt meter to check the capacity and sure enough it was the battery meter out of calibration. After about 80-100 watt usage the meter dropped 80%. The last 20% of the meter ran 550 watts lol. I have the eb70 that has 716w/h capacity. I confirmed with killawatt meter that the battery was fine I got about 630 watt hours out of the battery which is about 90% efficiency rate. Thanks for the video after doing the re calibration it works perfect again.

Great video! My AC200MAX dropped from 95% to 0% in no time under small load of phone and power bank charging. I think this is after days of charging it with unreliable solar (winter time now in Europe) and discharging with AC load (dehumidifier) as well as other light usage. I own the unit for about half a year, and have two B300 extensions in the mix. The BMS must have got confused and lost track of the correct state of charge. I need to recalibrate the whole stack, but will wait for the second T500, since I have no grid and will run it on inverter generator. I think the manual recommends to discharge the unit completely every 3 or 6 months.

Jeff. Very grateful to you for this video. I may have this issue as a couple of times 70% went to 0% overnight, with the entire unit switched off. If it happens again, I'll be following your instructions to the letter!

Thank you for your great explanation! I just got a new EB3A. It was delivered with 67%, I charged it and while I waited I applied a firmware update. At this point it was at 99% - and after the firmware update it fell down to 67% again. I wondered and was worried about eventually "overcharging" the battery. But your video has calmed me down again. I will now try to drain the battery completely and recharge it to get the charge indicator right again.

I finally picked up a 200 max. On the initial charge it went from 65% to 100w in minutes. Ran it dead and back up. It worked.

Thanks. I saw the "meter going up too fast while charging" problem just the other day. I was wondering what was going on. Good to know it can be fixed!
