    Heard some shops went back to using the wavy snap ring in the overdrive on 06-07 48re with the Tva motors, because no wavy snap ring can cause a harsh downshift in tow haul. Firepunk guys are the best. Very helpful videos

    I just learned a quick hack to installing a trans brake without any effort lol On a side note, would too loose a forward clutch result in a trans not going in lot gear? Recently my home built 47re started doing this thing where you start it, put it into forward gear, and usually nothing happens. If you rev in park or neutral to 3500rpm for a few seconds, it goes into gear fine. Doesn’t happen nearly as often once trans is up to temp. Also it goes fine into reverse all the time.

But it almost feels like the brakes are stuck then there is a loud clunk that I can actually feel and it finally goes. What do you think is happening/failing? Thank you!

    Bought a early 04 2500 and it moves in drive but barely and its as if it's in drive or 3rd and reverse is perfect and all gears show perfectly on dash but when I manually put it in 1st or 2nd it doesn't make any sound and it doesn't feel as if it's shifting into the two low gears... im gonna pull it and go through it but just before I bought it it qas rebuilt to some degree because it's stamped with the rebuild date.. hoping it's governor pressure solenoid but my luck the forward is cooked.

    @@FirepunkDiesel My apologies, I should of been more specific as to what I was referring too. The fwd clutch pack tolerance, as said in the video set to .020 or as long as clutches spin freely by hand, ATSG manual calls for .025....I shaved a bit off the snap ring and was able to tightly fit .025 in, realistically probably closer to .023.

    I am very suprised with all the money there is to be had in 48re transmissions that nobody has tried to manufacture cases and vb... i mean theres plenty of companies making billet engine blocks and etc but if just one of them spent the money on engineering the 48re case they could make it better and they would easily make their money back in no time id gladly buy a whole new case and vb just to know im stsrting with brand new parts.. i get that it would take a good amount of monry and time but it would pay extremely well i mean its not just dodge guys/girls that would buy them but also other brand vehicles that have cummins engines in them.. and i mean someone thst knows what they are doing not overseas but here just like the engine blocks are being manufactured ❤❤❤

    You say the billet bands tear up the direct drum but I beg to differ The stock bands do far worse damage than a billet you can actually reuse a drum that was damage by a billet band wear as you literally junk a drum that was damaged from a rivet gouging groves into the drum. You should expand on this topic if you actually have enough experience with these billet bands

  • @Engine_biulds

    @Engine_biulds

    The billet bands are atheist far more precise and literally fit the drum perfectly the extra wide band that is 3/16 wider is the only band I use anymore. I don't believe the older borg band will hold what a wider billet band can hold I seriously doubt it
