Welcome back. You just missed two very interesting trailer releases just by a few days (so hoping to see you react to them):- 1.) Samबहादुर - Official Trailer Based on the life of Union of India's most iconic military commanders: Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The man who served in the British Indian Army in World War 2 and then later rose through the ranks to command the Indian Army to victory in the India-Pakistan war of 1971. The man for whom the very rank of Field Marshal was created (otherwise General is the highest rank in the Indian Army, normally). There are two trailers and one teaser out till now. This is the most anticipated movie in coming months. 2,) Pippa - Official Trailer Based on the non-fiction book "The Burning Chaffees" by Brigadier Balram Mehta, the movie depicts the true story of how Brigadier (then Captain) Balram Mehta led his tank squadron in the 1971 India-Pakistan war, winning victories against much larger forces at the Battle of Garibpur and other battles.

The Bhopal disaster or the Bhopal Gas Tragedy was a chemical accident on the night of 2nd-3rd December, 1984 at the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide plant in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. Considered the world's worst industrial disaster, over 500,000 people in the small towns around the plant were exposed to the highly toxic gas "Methyl Isocyanate" (MIC). Estimates vary on the death toll, with the official number of immediate deaths being 2,259. In 2008, the Government of Madhya Pradesh paid compensation to the family members of 3,787 victims killed in the gas release, and to 574,366 injured victims. A government affidavit in 2006 stated that the leak caused 558,125 injuries, including 38,478 temporary partial injuries and approximately 3,900 severely and permanently disabling injuries. Others estimate that 8,000 died within two weeks, and another 8,000 or more have since died from gas-related diseases.

@@RebeccaReacts The owner of this plant was the American company "Union Carbide". And the very next year after this disaster in India, another toxic chemical leak occurred, this time from a Union Carbide plant in West Virginia, USA. This same company had, decades before, killed 470 of its employees in the Hawks Nest Tunnel Disaster in West Virginia, USA. The Chairman of Union Carbide, Warren Anderson, escaped sentencing in India by hiding behind the skirts of the US Government. The US Government refused to extradite him. He died in 2014 at the ripe old age of 92 years. As for the company Union Carbide, its Indian subsidiary was dismantled and sold off to an Indian Company and the proceeds of the sale were used to build a hospital to care for the victims. In USA, Union Carbide was sold off to DOW Chemicals.

a few things about this gas leak: 1) the gas is MIC (methyl isocyanate, OCNCH3 which is a deadly liquid in its normal form, but when added to water turned to gas 2) this gas leak was the worst industrial accident in history (worse than Chernobyl) 3) sodium thiosulfate was thought to be the antidote bc this was initially thought to be a cyanide poisoning 4) there is NO known antidote for MIC 5) the liquid is odourless and colourless Union Carbide was a shoddily run company that was behind this gas leak: 1) no healthy/safety regs 2) not well maintained pipes/machinery 3) not well trained personnel (mostly bc their employees were just taught what they needed to know, not what to do in the event of a hazard History as you say is a great thing. It is interesting though that none of todays youth know about or care about important things like this. Case in point, at my job in the restaurant, none of my coworkers know much about this. I do have to ask though, did you ever do history as a major in university?

...this is the problem with people today. They don't know history and as such are doomed to repeat it.
