Awesome players! But the real genius behind the trademark Whitesnake sound is the man called John Sykes.

Sorry but that's bullshit sir. John Sykes only wrote everything on the '87 album except Here I go Again & Crying in the Rain. Whitesnake had a well established career before Sykes came into the picture.

I love both Reb and Doug as players and they certainly both have their strengths, which are many. The main thing that always stands out for me when watching Doug play though, is how he can wear the guitar as low as he does, and shred the way he does on a thick bodied/necked guitar like a Les Paul (not sure what neck profile he uses). He's one of a few who can along with John Sykes, Zakk Wylde and Gary Moore... With that huge tone, it sounds epic...

Amazing video! Doug is so good...he excels at his own signature blues-metal riffing... But we're talkin' about Reb Beach here...those phenomenal riffs and solos in Winger are pure pedigree...Reb was THE fastest gun in the West back when...(okay, Satch and Vai, but they were solo )...and he walked the walk...Reb is the cute kid with the bolero hat, the fringe jacket, and the lightning fingers, taking no prisoners night after night. Very cool cat whose playing is always shimmering with bravado and unexpected thrills. I'd watch Doug anytime - he was killer in Dio - but Reb is a flat-out guitar GOD.

some people may think they're trying to OUT DO each other , not the case at all !! There is a definite , complimenting , Duo mentality here , definite respect for one another , both know each is schooled, each has their influences , although both have the same , each has a style , which is limited by L P vs STRAT . This picture looks more like Jeff Watson and Brad Gillis , Murray and Smith , very nice chemstry here and neither feels threatened by the next its obvious !! Two seriously underratted , overlooked guys !! Read lots of Doug's stuff in Guitar magazine , think was also doing stuff for Guitar World mag also but was mainly with Guitar Magazine ! Heard Reb when seeing the Seventeen video of Winger and was Blown away , how tasteful he was , yet flashy and knew this guy was no lightweight !!! Ofcourse Reb has the fame with Winger, a session guy for Chacka Khan and others , no one ever knew or gave a shit surely but when Winger came around , he surely stamped his mark on the scene. Doug , is he lessons guy , surely known to all but nothing recorded really and always wondered when he would do something. When Sykes left Whitesnake , always thought he would be a replacement but oddly Vai came in which was as rather odd twist but Doug always seemed like the man for the job !!!!

What are these two doing? Reb looks just exactly like a childhood friend of mine, and band mate, Howie. Howie is probably one of the greatest guitar players I've ever heard and had the privilege to play music with. Howie is a Randy head, that explains why he's such a great guitar player. Back in the day we would work for days learning music and solos with an old cassette player...rewind and play. Now if I want to learn a tune, I simply try to find a tutorial. Yeah I know, but I've done my share of "ear training ". Actually it would amaze you to see how much Howie and Reb not only look like, but act like as well.

Douglas Morato well...not. John is better picker if you are talking about technique. John can alternate pick pretty clean and fast. Doug doesn't alternate pick almost at all, just fast legato hammer on's pull off's and it gets a little mushy sometimes. And melodic wise John is another level...Doug is a fine player on his own though.

Doug is great, but I like how Reb is modest, although a brilliant guitar player.....Not a show off, but can play sick guitar licks

Reb is one of the most underrated guitarists of the 80s but anyone who just calls Aldrich good is fooling themselves , he is a very " SCHOOLED GUITARIST " he is every bit as schooled as Reb is , just a different take , Aldrich is a L P guy , which leaves him with trem to work with , Reb is into that but he is so very much " not a shmuck " with a bar , Brad Gillis is a influence on Reb and it is obvious , Brad was always oh so tasteful .
