Reasons Why AI is Getting Dangerous with ARTSTATION

Guys, I decided to bring up this video to talk about AI and what is happening in our industry as a whole.
Recently a new movement has grown over the Artstation platform, and to talk about this, I explain the reasons that artists are very concerned.
without laws that protect the artist's artwork from malicious prompts, it becomes really serious and harmful to each creator... including you.

I'd like to make my point very clear, mainlyfor those that use AI to claim as Artist and still have no idea about how our Art industry survive... 1. The real problem is not the AI, But how some people are getting an advantage to sell other people's Artwork. 2. Artstation is becoming the number 1. target for this exploit and degradation. 3. Your Art in Artstation will be several used by the AI prompts, and your Artistic Identity can be stolen and reproduced infinitely. 4. Really, You can't compete in the same place with thousands of images like yours, Recruiters will have no chance to see your art in the Sea of empty AI Portfolios. 5. Some people Say "Artists use References to Copy others, and AI do the Same", It's completely different, AI can literally Replicate the Style, in seconds, While Artists can learn How to create New styles, while AI don't. 6. I understand that AI is here to accelerate the process and can't be simply deleted, but what is happening now, without laws, can literally make Art empty and poor.

I think the art community needs a reality check. I'm not taking a side here; I'm just stating a blatant, obvious reality of the situation. AI artwork isn't going anywhere, and every month going forward, expect its presence to double. I certainly don't think places like Art Station should allow people to post AI art and claim that it is anything other than AI art. I think Art Station should have an AI section. There is some very cool artwork being created with AI, and I don't think it should be hindered. But if you're claiming AI art as work you did without the assistance of AI, that's pretty pathetic. In a couple of years, every digital artist will be using AI to contribute to their process. Look at how many industries are implementing AI into their workflow. For example, robots using AI have been working alongside humans on the automotive assembly line for years. Do you mean to tell me that the robotic arms are doing fake work? In the farming industry, there are hundreds of ways that AI is being utilized. Is that fake work...fake farming? I wouldn't be surprised that in 20 years or possibly less all taxis at least in major cities will be self driving. Do you mean to tell me we will have fake taxis in the future? I expect lots of taxi drivers will loose their jobs. But I wouldn't consider their replacement to be fake.

The more effort and sacrifice an artist exercises and talent an artist has, the more deserving of respect he is, imo. “He who works with his hands is a laborer. It is so much more than just art. AI is going to eclipse every societal concern for unforeseen consequences. Some creators are trying to pivot by making their channel about how to do AI art. However, it will not be long from now when we can simply ask AI "Make a content creator video discussing ..." and it will do so.

AI's have no soul or conscience and just compiles something from whatever it is programmed to imitate. If that's a sign of things to come, we could end up a soulless society of drones with no imagination that rely on AI to do everything. That's a very bleak future if you ask me.

I’m an AI Artist and i will do what i can to fight for more regulation, a non-intrusive algorithm, and a relationship where AI can help other artists, not hurt them. While i will defend my AI Art as art i will also admit it needs to have a change in the way it collects training data and agree is in a completely different category as digital art. If DA and Artstation allow AI Art there needs to be a giant button i can press that labels it as AI Art so it can easily be filtered out by those who don’t want to see it just like they do for NSFW.

Just because I use AI does not mean I can't draw. I actually have a degree in Art. I have been drawing passionately since I was a child and have spent so many hours drawing that mixed with my joint condition ( Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) and spatial awareness issued which caused me to put too much pressure when drawing I have permanent damage in my arms. I didn't draw for years because it was too painful to draw but now with AI Art I'm able to draw the initial sketch, use AI to fill in the details with very complex prompts, and then fix up any issues in Procreate. Sapiens, learning by seeing and thinking, is not a crime. When I think of artists that died poor and in misery, but their work were copied by every art student to make money a Van Gogh didn't make or of artists selling a factory made soup can or fire extinguisher as art, I just can't accept a training ban. How would you proove it anyway. There is a thing called prompt mining that can copy any artist without being trained on that artist. However, when someone makes with AI art and pretends to be a different artist by using the monogram, signature or suggesting this could be an original from the artist is grand theft.

As an AI artist, I have spent a significant amount of time and effort learning how to use Stable Diffusion to create unique artwork in my own style. It can be frustrating when my work is not appreciated or respected by the community I admire, especially when I see others using AI to produce a large quantity of mediocre images without putting in the same level of effort or thought. While I understand the need for laws and regulations to protect against the unauthorized use of AI to copy and profit from the work of others, I also hope that these regulations will not discourage or stigmatize the use of AI in art overall. I believe it is possible to strike a balance that allows for creativity and innovation while also respecting the rights and interests of artists.

You did a terrible job explaining what AI does. It’s NOT copying people’s artwork, which is what it sounds like you’re saying it does. True AI image generators use millions, or billions of images to “learn” how to make their OWN, COMPLETELY UNIQUE art. Just like all artists look at other people’s art to learn and use reference images to draw and paint, AI does the same thing, only instead of looking at a limited range of work, say a few favorite artists, it’s studying from this vast, vast database of images. Artists are freaking out over their images being “stolen” to train the database, but when other artists look at their work and add elements of it to their own style, they don’t say anything or care. What’s so bad about tiny, tiny bits, like infinitesimal bits of their artwork being used as inspiration by a machine, but NOT about other artists literally TRYING to imitate parts of their style? I GUARANTEE YOU that all those thousands upon thousands of people who try to copy the style, or get heavily inspired by the style, of some popular artist like Leigh Ellexson or Kim Jung Gi didn’t ask for permission to study their work. I GUARANTEE YOU that almost none of those KZread artists who film themselves drawing references from Pinterest and monetizing those videos asked for permission, made payment to, or give credit to the model or photographer in those images. Why not get angry at those people? For the most part, with the notable exception of Ross Tran who got into trouble for referencing without credit, nobody bats an eye when this happens. It’s accepted as normal. There are SOME problematic tools like Lensa that DO just mash up stolen art and photos, but those aren’t true AI. They’re garbage. True AI doesn’t do that. In fact, if you think about it, it’s MORE ethical than those artists who reference Pinterest images in monetized videos because most of those artists just try to faithfully reproduce the reference image without payment or credit, while AI produces something completely unique.

The issue artists have with AI really comes down to one point - the speed of it and nothing else. The thing with the styles is not important here (although it's one of the arguments) because as you say, style is a broad term and actually every pro artist takes something from others as inspiration and that's considered normal. For example different artist can have very similar styles because they use a similar medium to make their art and they influence one another. But this AI here is another beer. Too fast, too easy. At the end of the day though people will probably still choose the best ones out of a sea of mediocrity and banality because to be an artist or have an art perspective on things is something "the masses" don't have. The only thing they are able to achieve is to make a kitsch out of real art, to trivialise it, to make it cheaper. So the democratization of AI art has very real potential to devalue it greatly. A real value has always meant work and talent spent by an artist or a product maker, for a time reasonable for humans to appreciate it as being valuable. That's what makes the difference between the masterpiece in the museum and it's cheap immitation bought for five dollars in the nearest store and hung up on the wall.
