Gentleman you have spoken very well but Oluwo himself has already condemned the Yoruba tradition. If you have been following him and his behaviors then you will agreed that he needs to come to his origin.

Excellent!!! Powerful Oba Olateru Olagbegi II crowned his queen when he was the king of Owo in Ondo State. It is very well accepted but not for a Northerner. The Arewa people can never accept what he did for a Yoruba spouse. Pragmatically, how he behaves in the public place is not acceptable in tradition. He should please mend his public comportment so also be well organized.

Thanks for your video. I only want to add some few facts and that is, this is not the first royal marriage between Yoruba and the northerners. It has happened in the Old Oyo Kingdom where the mother side of the most powerful king in yorubaland came from the North and that was the king Sango (Obakoso). I say this not in support of Oluwo but for the purpose of history. And please again not in support of this radical king Oluwo, oba has always been invited and goes to social functions ever since in memorial. Only they never spend money at the functions. They normally send their orderlies to give money out on their behalf. Because they’re the gods and in the past people were afraid to collect money from the gods for the fear of repercussions. To me Oluwo is just a small boy that needs to be taught more about the tradition, for this is not the time to throw an elaborate marriage party when there are many killings in Yorubaland from this people he married to, if at all, he was to find a solution to how peace could reign between the two communities. As he has sometimes said, I believe this peace could be sought solemnly. So in my own opinion he did this because he is selfish he didn’t consider the reaction of his people. Finally, I believe he’s a very controversial king who like to be in the news with this, I think the elders need to support him to grow in his functions as a king and they should let him realise without his people there’s no kingdom or kings Thanks I wish you more grease…

Ademola Odukoya has done a very incisive analysis but I want to add something that most have refused to attend to. The Iwos are 85% muslims and have accommodated Christianity and Christians example is the Baptist Mission with myriads of institutional and human capital development infrastructures. Unfortunately the mission has not been able to increase the Christian population despite the fact that 90% of educated people from Iwo were schooled by the Baptist. Furthermore nearly 95% of those who ascended the throne were Muslims either seriously practical or nominal but not outwardly traditional professing Christianity. The questions Oluwo had consistently asked and which nobody has given attention to are What was Oduduwa's religion during his life time. If Ogun, Obatala, Shango and other so called deified entities came after the demise of Oduduwa and/or are great grandchildren and relations of Oduduwa how come people erect altars of worship for them. If there is anybody to worship at all ( though that is even not correct) it should be Oduduwa. The arrival of these deities are from the imagination of group of powerful people who created them as a means control and subjugation. If all these deities have contributed to the survival of the Yoruba race they should be recognized and celebrated. Instead they are clothed in mystery, magic and uncommon ability and for you to know or ask about their activities you have to be a member with tightened tongue. The artifacts you showed is a manifestation of our forefathers ingenuity in record creation about their ability to preserve activities around them and their degree of intelligence. How come these artifacts are turned into Orishas. Bronze and wood carvings and clay molding are artworks and some can earn millions of dollars in today's trade. Instead of seeing and appreciating them as the expression of an advanced minds , they started offering Eku, eja, epoxy etc to them as their gods. The funniest contradiction when you listen to them pray they still invoke God (Eledumare) right in the presence of these Orishas an act which I regard as disloyalty. You are either duplicating to God or your deity. As for his marriage to Firdaus I can read his mind that it was meant cut off the amount of interference of our people in marriage of their children or the influence of the Gbeboruns of our ladies. You can recall the issue of the last wife who was so schooled by the Obas detractors with series of Asabes interviews. But for the strength the Oba had in public relations he would have been overwhelmed. Secondly how many 26 year old Yoruba girl had not have been licked before marriage. I can assure you that the gbefilas cannot point to say that she is not a virgin and that was Oluwo's mission. Powerful interests want to pocket Obas and direct, dictate and threaten them which this Oba has refused. He has been able to put himself in a position of strength by not subjecting himself to the membership of secret societies and all arguments as to his being Yahoo man had not held waters. He could not be one and be in the public. His socializing involvement will reduce as he ages.

You are right! but oluwo of iwo did not believe in traditional process? You only follow what you believed! King cannot be selective in the process. You showed the facts. But did he (Oluwo of Iwo) believed in Osa. He said there should be no osa. He (Oluwo) did not believe in Osaa. Therefore, you supporting of his action is irrelevant to his action. Oluwo did not believe in your facts, but he wants to use. I have no problem in putting crown on his wife head but only if he believe in traditional process.

Very very well analysed. Though Oluwo sometimes go overboard but He really follows tradition that I admire about him. So whenever he brings out the genesis and sustaining tradition let's applaud him. But historically past oba's married from Nupeland and others ke. I feel the elders of of Iwo land cuatodians of culture and the entire Yoruba land should try and call all of them to other. Oba of Benin is revered till tomorrow.
