I agree. I've seen a few custom setups like that before, like in the bed of a truck and stuff. Is there a mechanical advantage that makes those vertical shocks and springs better than upright? Just curious if you or anyone knows. As far as i'm aware, it just allows for more space and easier to service. And obviously it's great to look at.

@@Javii96 yeah pushrod style suspension offers easier adjustments and servicing but also more compression distance meaning don't have to run the suspension as stiff and worry about running out compression space. More compliant. Also actual physical space in the wheel well to run a wider wheel. Remember there was that Mustang on /TUNNED with Matt Farah few years back that had one.

@@Javii96 has nothing to do with looks and servicing however it does provided a huge bump in how easy servicing would be. The main focus and why they were made was to remove as much unsprung weight and move it into the chassis of the car to allow faster and more nimble suspension and to also lower and “correct” the vehicles center of gravity

Cantilever suspension.

We need more from Colt.. this should be a SEMA car once it’s finished. Colt is dripping with talent. His designs and detailed machining rival some of the big shops.

he put the turbos at the back of the car. exactly the worst place for them. that eliminates him from sema talk. the rest of the car is nice.

I’m not a Z guy but this build is pretty impressive. Big props 🙌🏻

One of the most underrated 350Z builds out there with rear turbos setup. A man called Colt built this work of art check out his interview video and test drive on web. Love the style and build quality and the fact he went with rear setup despite the fact there would be haters. His Z is awesome and deserves more recognition.

His amazing skill set is the reason why the execution is so impeccable engineering-wise. Perfect example of what can be done to any vehicle with the right tools, know how and imagination!

I really like how unique this is. But man I’d be so worried about getting rear ended Edit: would have like to see more of the car. Long, well lit, close up shots of pretty much everything mechanical, with full depth of field lol, maybe put it on a lift to show us from the underside as well. Missed opportunities galore.

I don’t have a clue what you’re talking about 95% of the time but I love it. Passionate craftsmanship is always cool and always to be respected - especially when it becomes something that goes f**king fast!

TRC, this was an outstanding video and opportunity for a regular but obviously very talented and humble guy doing his garage build and sharing it with all of us. I enjoyed it and how he took a regular sports car, turned it into his day-by day R&D dream project then along the way realized the amazing technology of CAD, TIG welding, and other amazing tech and turned it to something amazing--his fabrication, time, and obviously a lot of dollars and time away from family gave him the sweet street/performance ride he never expected. Kudos!

The amount of chill this guy exuded is insane. Lol

Been following this build on Instagram since the start and have loved every single update! Absolute work of art!

He’s just a pure car enthusiast to take the time to learn and build what he wanted and still be a family man. Hats off to him love the build!

Wow, this by far is one of the best 350z builds I’ve seen to date. Huge props to Colt and his masterpiece. This car looks so badass and it’s not even finished yet. This legendary build really should be getting A LOT MORE attention and notoriety as it was hard to take in all the ingenuity, complexity, craftsmanship and how simple this work of art really is in a short video.

Been following Colt for a while. His DIY build is fantastic.Glad it was covered.

im usually not a fan of Z's, but this is next level. that pushrod rear end is beautiful to watch in action. and to top it off it's gotta be one of the best sounding VQ's i've ever heard.

The owner is a TRUE designer! He put the turbos in the back, allowing him to keep his AC and power steering, and how the turbo setup is semetrical! And with the intake manifold, not the biggest fan of the wisebody but this build is a 10/10!!

Before I watched this, I was thinking, "yeah it looks cool, but with the turbos in the rear it's going to be pretty laggy". I'm impressed, he really did his homework, it's set up really well. It's hard to get show quality and performance, something is always unbalanced, always leaning one way or the other... not here. It really is an amazing build.
