Bro i felt that driveshaft separation, situation in my soul lol. i was trying to change my diff bushings in my e46 sedan and i couldn't get the drive shaft to drop so i couldn't drop the diff . Wasn't trying to take the cover off so i just put it back together before i was balls deep. But after seeing you go through exactly what i did but having a solution - i thank you because of you, I was able to swap my bushings out🫡🫡I know the vid is old but it came in the clutch. Preciate it gang, Deff got my Sub & a bell notification brother

When I did my e30's rear sub I looked at the axle bolts and said hellllll nah because there was no way I was getting em loose lol. Just be glad your subframe actually came off, took me 3 days of using a 4lb sledge to get mine out.

The reason your impact didnt loosen the axle is because it looses way to much torque on the adapter, the extender and the socket witch arent rated for impacts (impact sovkets doesnt give as much so you doesnt loose as much torque)

I'm having the same exact problem on my 1998 328i. Rear subframe bushings are completely toast and you feel it everytime you shift and release the clutch. Watching this video for maybe a future fix...

I did my rear subframe in December (1999 328i touring) replaced all bushings with poly. Just removing the old bushings took us like 6 hours, if i knew it i would have picked up whole new subframe, arms and everything. It would save so much time and anger. FYI the car feels 1000% better, no clunk on shifting or when releasing the gas.

@@BIGimont A brand new one is of course always best but a new one with new arms, bushings etc. in my country will cost well over 1500 euros. If I get to keep the car, then I'll consider doing it.

it's not the chassis thats weak, its the bad design of the subframe because the diff transferring torque + your gear shifts + bad subframe bushes. you can eliminate it with subframe reinforcements & solid subframe bushes. rear strut brace if you're keen too
