Rear Motor Mount Replacement 2002 - 2008 Toyota Corolla / How to Inspect Engine Mounts

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I show how to replace rear motor mount 2002 - 2008 Toyota Corolla, and how to inspect engine mounts in general. This also covers how to check engine mounts for wear. Repair is done on the 2002 - 2008 Toyota Corolla Matrix. This also covers Toyota with the 1ZZ-FE engine and, to some extent, Toyota motor mount replacement in general. If you are looking for how to stop engine vibration or, specifically, replacement of broken rear motor mount Toyota Corolla or broken engine mounts, you may find this helpful. The video also applies to applicable years of the Pontiac Vibe, since it essentially shares the same engine with the 2002 - 2008 Toyota Matrix.

    For anyone using torque values, most of the bolts securing the engine mounts to the frame (NOT the through-bolts) are 38ft•lb, with only one exception in the front lower mount. I am going to be doing all 4 mounts as well as the engine oil and LCAs on my baby, so wish me luck! Torque values (at least for auto trannies in the guide that I have) FRONT LOWER MOUNT 14mm mounting bolts - 47ft•lb 14mm through bolt - 38ft•lb RIGHT UPPER MOUNT (HYDRAULIC) 14mm upper/lower mounting bolts - 38ft•lb NO through-bolt on this one LEFT UPPER MOUNT (TRANNY) 14mm mounting bolts - 38ft•lb 14mm through-bolt - 59ft•lb REAR LOWER MOUNT 14mm mounting bolts - 38ft•lb 17mm through-bolt - 64ft•lb

    Thank you. This is exactly what my car is doing….I get two clunks/clicks right after putting it in gear. I had someone do that (engine running, parking break in, door on brake then switch back and forth between gears) and I was shocked at how much the engine moved each time. I couldn’t really figure out which mount was making the noise. I bought the pass side, the front, and the trans mount from a pretty clean specimen in the junkyard. I’d rather have a good used oem than cheap aftermarket. But..,,since the rear is such a pain in the arse I will buy new oem.

    Why didn’t you lower the Jack a little that held the motor, to get that mount out of there and get the new one back in and to line up the bolt?

  • @DIYAutoworksNG

    @DIYAutoworksNG

    2 жыл бұрын

    Remember that the mount had collapsed so the motor was already sitting lower than the mount which is bolted to the chassis. Raising the motor is what makes it easier in my experience. But keen to hear if lowering the motor has made it easier in your practice. That separation of the motor from the chassis provide the much-needed space for the removal/install.
