Rear Drum brake inspection and replacement in Bullet Standard UCE 500

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Squishy rear brakes, strange squeaking sounds while applying rear brakes or loss of braking power. Reason could be worn out rear brakes. This is how you can inspect and replace rear drum brakes.

Thank you for such a clear, detailed, and well filmed and explained tutorial. This helped me to identify that I had re-assembled mine without one of the spacers - you are a literal lifesaver, sir.

Good camera position, very clear to see and understand what you are doing, not sure about using bricks to hold up the bullet but everything else is good. I never knew the rear wheel of a Bullet was so complicated, best British engineering!!

Good initiative. Laymen like me will understand and do it myself in this lock down time. Sometimes we need to learn things in our life to depend only on ourselves. This video really helped me out to easily do the brake shoe cleaning. Especially removing tire without the help of others for tilting the bike is really simple and awesome idea bro. Kudos. Thanks for the video. :) :) Thumbs up!!!

Sir, After doing Brake shoes sanding you need to clean every thing with RAG/old piece of cloth. You also need to Grease Brake Shoes's CAM , Guide pin , where both end of brake shoes are attached. Also CAM Pivot point , just small AP 3 Grease will do. You have to mark and remove CAM Lever nut( CAM Body NUT) keep CAM Lever and spring aside , pull out CAM Body clean with Kerosene oil , rub with rag and apply small grease on it. this will make your brake smooth and will last for a long time.. Thanks You.

You forgot to mention that you must make sure the boss where the brake lever goes through the back plate is able to slide back and forward to centralise the brake shoes or only one shoe will touch!

i recently had an accident with my royal, while in a turn i pressed gently the break and it completely blocked the wheel, i fell and to unlock it i had to release the regulator. Any idea of what could have coused it?

Bullet is a heavy machine and you'll need to apply both brakes to stop it. Mostly when only one side brake is applied the brakes tend to freeze.

I would like to know the cost of that rear ceat tyre..Can it be fitted on classic 350? Please share the tyre model name too =D

Hi it is ceat zoom tyres. They are tubeless, however i fit it with tubes inside bcoz of spokes wheels. You'll need to check the tyre size of clssic 350 and then can look at the same measurements tyre in ceat zoom tubeless.

Hows your experience with rear brake locking on wet roads in monsoon bro?? Again helpful video from you..

  • @EnfieldPerformanceblogs

Has not locked till date on wet roads. Have had very few skids. However you must understand a bullet is a heavy machine so the momentum it builds up while running can be bit too much for rear drum brakes alone. Try to apply both the brakes together.

+Enfield Performance Sure Bro.. Actually it is reccomended 70% Front and 30% rear brake for an effective braking on an non-ABS.. Have a good day ahead..

You should use the front brake more. It takes habit but that is how it is done. Make a habit to press the front brake gradually counting 10, 9, 8... In your mind while applying the front brake. Takes habit, but you develop muscle memory over time. The rear wheel on any bike looses traction easily as when you brake, the weight of the bike shifts to the front wheel, giving better traction on the front wheel than the rear. That's the reason the rear brakes lock and loose traction and then the rear wheel just follows the physics of momentum and continues to slide, mostly skidding right, as the silencer adds weight to that side, using the front handle like a pivot and the rider bites the dust... I should add that's when the ABS comes as a blessing as it continuously checks for wheel locking and releases the brakes instantly, but if you use drum brakes, you need to be more disciplined with your riding and braking

Thanks Roshawn for your inputs. I am a designer by profession and I agree I am totally a layman in this field. I make videos as I encounter a problem and many times I don't even know the names of the parts I speak about. Having said that I still make videos as I can totally relate to the problems a layman feels when dealing with their Bullets. So I would love to know from you how I can use my tools better so that I can share with others and everyone benefits. Thanks again
