Nice video. This bushing is still good working? I bought febi too for my w124. How did you put in the right place? Only with wood and hammer 🔨? Did you hit at the center? Do I really need the special tool?

yes, it continues without slack and without noises. you can try to put it using 2 pieces of wood and a clamp and check if it is entering correctly

Good job doing it with premitive tools but borrowing a press kit will do a much cleaner job. You can also try to find a socket that sits on the outer rim of the bushing and hammer it out. 🙃

So I figured out why he needed to do it this way.. there's a piece of the knuckle that attaches to the front side arm.. you can't fit a press in there with a socket. I couldn't get mine bashed back in with a block of wood like he carefully skipped right past in the video, so I tried using the press I rented from O'Reilly. Couldn't fit a socket or the press piece in that came with it because of the aforementioned part of the knuckle being in the way. I decided to just use the end of the clamp and hope for the best because it had to get finished to drive home, broken or not. Ended up tearing the boots but got them in. F it, and F Mercedes 😂

@@chadg6874 It wasn't easy, it's true. the piece was practically glued to the arm. I had to use a dremel with a mini disk to cut the bushing

@@easybuilding8208 yep, us too 😂 Once the Dremel discs got burned down small enough, we had about 20 seconds of use being able to fit it in there before it burned out. I got so frustrated I started working on something else and he took over. I remember he started using drill bits, an angle grinder, hammer and chisel. He got tired and I relieved him, and proceeded to drill a hole into the side of the housing. Thankfully it didn't really cause any problems that I know of 😂 man that was a frustrating day and I definitely rage commented up there lol Update, the transmission is finally deciding to give up soon after 302,000 miles. It's still holding on but is really slipping now. It's going to become a track only drift machine, possibly with an MT conversion for however much longer it will hold up... So I'm not even worried about bushings given the amount of abuse it will experience soon 😂
