Rear Coil Springs Change on Nissan Pathfinder

This video shows how to remove and replace rear coil springs on a 2019 or 4th generation Nissan Pathfinder. The new coils are from Dobinson's ( Model C45-423). I can't recommend a company to buy these from but you might be able to buy them factory direct or from a Racing/Suspension retailer or online store. The company I bought them from took about 4 months to deliver them (backordered from the manufacturer). Thanks for watching and feel free to Share, Like, Subscribe and comment. Hey, thanks for posting this great video. I just did the same install on my 2017 Infinity QX60. I had 2 questions for you: did you do a wheel alignment after the install and did you have to adjust the head lights as the rear end lifted a couple inches. Thx

    I did neither. I didn't notice any change to the wheel alignment or headlamp issue. Results may vary, as they say. Good luck on your project!- Mike

    How does the affect the ride on a daily basis? My pathfinder sags quite a bit with the stock springs with my tent trailer - this could be the solution.

    I would definitely recommend swapping your springs- without any tongue weight or towing anything, the vehicle has a somewhat medium to high center of gravity, so adding a few inches in the rear doesn't effect it much. With the independent suspension, it still rides smoothly with the new springs. Good luck with your project!- Mike

    Did you notice the ride height of the rear to be too high compared to the front or did it look decent? I find the Pathfinder stock sags in the rear even when empty/trailerless.

    I got these installed today. They still need to settle and sit a bit high. An alignment was required and once they settle I will have the alignment checked again. Great product and so much better than bags.

    The fittings of the airbags weren't very secure, so the air would escape out of them once in a while. The coil springs change was a good alternative to air bags. Good luck with your project!- Mike

  • @mikesdoityourself

    Some of the control arm bolts can be torqued down a lot. There aren't any manuals printed for that year yet so I would try to go by the feel of it when you remove them or research a previous year that is in a manual. Good luck with your project!- Mike

    No, not on this vehicle. I traded this vehicle in for a Nissan Armada to get better towing capacity and more room inside. Some of my other front struts/suspension videos on other vehicles may be similar to the Pathfinder. Good luck with your project!- Mike

    Any issues doing just the rear? Or is there a reason people just do the rear? Is the stance better having the back lifted ?

  • @mikesdoityourself

    @mikesdoityourself

    27 күн бұрын

    @passatman1000 Hello, I thought the stance was better, but I replaced the rear springs only because the back end lowered/sagged a lot when I towed a small travel trailer. The springs made a big difference, and I was able to get rid of the air bags within the rear coils. It also seemed better riding when not towing anything. Good luck with your project!- Mike

    I couldn't tell that big of a difference from a comfort standpoint of how it was riding before or after the coil change. It just rode a little higher for trailering. I felt it rode nice either way. Good luck with your project!- Mike

    Can I swap that coil spring to my qx4??

  • @mikesdoityourself

    @mikesdoityourself

    That shouldn't be an issue as long as the coil springs are similar in diameter to the Pathfinder coil springs. Coil spring Websites should give you a good idea if they are the same part or compatible with each other. Good luck with your project! - Mike

    I wasn't getting any steering issues or weird tire wear, so no I didn't have the alignment checked. I sold the vehicle recently so I can't attest to the long term effects of stiffer rear coils but I feel the vehicle rode better with less sway in the rear end. - Mike

    On these particular springs, they are rated at 30mm of lift even with rear tongue weight added so I didn't feel it was necessary to reinstall the air bags. So, I removed all the air bags and hardware. I haven't had any issues with towing, so I have been happy with it. Good luck with your project! - Mike

    @@mikesdoityourself thanks for video. My current setup is [stock springs + coil spacers] , and I was thinking of adding air bags to reduce the sagging. So I'm curious to know if the dubbinson's springs can be superior to the [stock springs + coil spacers + air bags] ; or what was the reason you changed yours? Tks again.

  • @mikesdoityourself

    @RolandoLopezNieto I decided on the new springs because I wanted the extra stiffness in the suspension and extra ride height when pulling a trailer. The new springs were back ordered for 6 months(during covid coming from Australia), so I used the airbags as a temporary solution until the springs got delivered. Thanks for the questions, and good luck with your project!- Mike
